With no Live timing it is hard to know where you stand going into a race compared to others. These are my time from this mornings practice run. I do believe preserving your tires to be able to have something at the end will be crucial. This was starting with 7.9 gallons (29.9 liters) I still have not done a full 45 minute session, so that will be interesting. I am fortunate to be able to flex my hours at work to enjoy this series. My outright fastest lap on low fuel is a 46.7. I will see you fellas later for the race. Meanwhile I'll go inspect some F119 jet engine components.
I was dropped from the race because of connection lost. Newer happened to me in RF2 before. Not sure what was wrong. Nevertheless, my race finished very fast.
I too have been having some issues with rF2 when sessions change. Tonight when it went from P to Q I was sat looking at the P screen when Ed told me everyone had already started Q on track. This has happened before and I'm at a loss to know what it is. I had to shutdown rF2 and come back in again.
Thanks @Ken Jagger for a thrilling and exciting race on a challenging track, especially trying to stay clean for 45 minutes at a pace that kept me in the fight. Late race loss of concentration cost me a top 4. Look forward to the next one and Congratulations @Neil Wood for the win and his teammate @Ben Summers for Team Dr. Peppers dual podium appearance!!!
We already drove that car track combo two years ago and I cannot remember that the crest was that challenging. Maybe my memory tricks me, because the only things I remember that I crashed in qualy with Kostas and my performance was very poor. It was better today. No crash (at least with Kostas) and the result is quite ok, although I am not satisfied with my many mistakes. But preparation was not ideal, so I am looking forward to Barber.
actualy the same happened to me too between practice and qualy. I hoped it is just one time issue and not happen during the race. But.. So, lets see on next race . As always - congrats to podiums!!
Stream VOD From practice times I was surprised at the pace but I seemed to get a rhythm and worked out a satisfying compromise. My team mate, @Ben Summers, was really on the pace.... it was looking good for Dr Pepper Fuelled Motorsports this round!! I managed to get myself to 2nd in qually, just couldn't quite eek out those final tenths. I am still not sure of the radiator setting, is 1 or 5 closed? Hard to tell. I made sure to stay close to @Kostas Kantzouras on the pace lap, I didn't want to lose draft and end up back in the pack. I went when he did under the bridge and faked a move around the outside, I was never going to get there especially on lap 1. I tried to stay close in the early laps, debris on the track in the final corner made me drop back. I was afraid of hitting it and my car going flying. So I had to build my pace back up to get on terms with Kostas again without burning the fronts, I wanted to keep them alive. With about 40 mins to go, Kostas seemed to be a bit slower over the crest that I was and I closed right up through the final turns. I knew there wouldn't be too many opportunities to pass so I had to cease it! Pretty scary being flatout in that final turn, nearly touching his rear with all the sparks. I was just hoping I didn't understeer off! I passed down into turn 1 and checked the timesheets, team mate Ben up to 4th.... NICE. Kostas dropped back a little but soon was be within 0.3-0.5 of a second for much of the race. Team mate up to 3rd and I didn't notice at the time, lapping way faster than us two at the front!! My heart sank when my spotter said "Summers has binned it" but he kept 3rd. I kept an eye on the split time behind and waited for Kostas to pounce. I was sure he was having laps where they pushed and got up to my rear and then would drop back for a few, I couldn't rest. This was Sebring all over again and I just needed to focus on my lines, avoid those kerbs and not push the fronts so I had them with me by the end of the race. I kept chucking lapped cars at Kostas in the hope he would get stuck behind one. Lapped cars did very well this race btw, not easy to spot the lapping cars in the corners being so fast here. I just had to believe the car would stick through some of the fast sweepers, I ran a bit more wing hoping to be better through the twisty section. There could be side by side racing but it would be slow, getting onto that main straight was crucial but you would need to be tucked right under the rear wing to get passed. Nealy 11 mins to go and I saw the split was closer than it ever was out the final corner so I defended into T1, hoping that my inside line was enough. There was a battle of lapped cars up ahead for 6th and 7th, it seemed cruel to interupt it but we managed to catch one of the straight and I was able to pass the other at T2. With 5 mins to go Kostas dropped back to 1.8s but I didn't trust it and pressed on. Sure enough he was back on my tail with a couple of mins to go but I managed to come away with the win!!! Chuffed with that, I knew I needed to make the most of getting some points while others were away this race. Double podium for Dr Pepper Fuelled Motorsports!!!
That was a great performance @Neil Wood , I suppose I had higher wings and that's what made me lose the lead and never had the chance to take it back, because even though I was faster through the corners, it's quite impossible to overtake there, so I had to follow closely and the only way to pass was if you made a mistake. You didn't make any significant mistake, so bravo! My race lap times were low 46s in practice, but I could not do that following you. I am a bit disappointed, but nevertheless I enjoyed the battle. Hard track, mainly because of the high kerbs, slightly wrong line and you're off facing the barrier.
