Hi everyone, I'm not well enough to take part today and am going to pull out of the whole series as I think another series is unfortunately too much for me It's a shame I was really looking forward to it, but I'll give up my number and McLaren livery so others can use it
I am really hoping St Petersburg isn't as bright as the screenshots i've seen. We might need sunglasses!!
After encountering several issues with the St Petersburg track in the Toyota GR Supra race yesterday https://simracingonline.co.uk/threads/round-2-st-petersburg.46322/#post-97424, Round 2 of this series will instead use the Lime Rock No-chicanes track and layout.
I'm hoping to race in this series from Detroit onwards. I've got a couple of questions: Do I need to choose a car number? Can I use one of the F1 skins? Do I have to download the entire 1986-88 track pack to race Detroit - and how many GB is that? Thanks!
You don't have to choose a car number Julian, but if you want to use a skin not used by others then it makes sense to post your choice here, so everybody else knows not to also select it. It also assists Neil Wood's streaming activities if he knows who's using which car. See earlier posts in this thread. Yes you can use an F1 skin but I suggest you select one not already selected by other members. Again see earlier posts in this thread to see who has chosen what already. The tracks come as part of a package from the RF2 Steam Workshop, so yes the full DL is required. The package size is just short of 3.50gb.
Thanks for getting back to me Ken. I'll go on this evening and choose a car number. And 3.5 GB isn't as much as I expected. But I will still need to free up some space - I'm a real track hoarder! Thanks.
Package files are a temporary thing until you install them. Once installed you don't need them anymore, but I always keep them in another "save" folder so that if you uninstall any car/track package you still have them to be able to reinstall again if you need them for another series/race.
Don't confuse the installation of the F1 skin pack with the request from Neil for his streaming activities. Just unzip the skin pack to your \SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\rFactor 2\Installed\Vehicles\Tatuus_USF-17_2018\1.14 folder and then you can select from them in RF2.
I think it's better off going in your userdata folder, that way it gets picked up and downloaded to everyone (I posted a guide earlier in this thread).
Its not a custom skin so the default Steam Workshop install for this mod is to the folder I gave and still gets picked up due to skin sharing being enabled on our servers.
