With less then 24hrs for the release of the long awaited & extremely hyped pCars2 who's on board with this sim ? I find myself about 70/30 on insta buying it .. I have herd some console players have it already and issues with xbox 1 again are showing up in some fb reviews .. (expected as xb1 is way under powered for a game like this) Others, PC users , have compared the new feel to be more like rf2 ... (for pc users- only advanced vendors have been able to open the locked game before official release and they are speaking up already with good reviews) I know it will be all shiny and sparkly ! but will it satisfy the hard core simmer ? Only one way to find out .. If you have the game please chime in with your experience's so far !
I pre-ordered it. Just hope it will be more league friendly and give the full results so I can give my brain a rest To be honest I've only just got into the first one and don't want to give up on the fun just yet.
I most likely will get it but will wait until released read a few right ups first as the main version of the game is not cheap. There should be a dedicated server just like RF1 & 2 so will see.
Like you guys, I already have the first PCARS, which used with Jake Spades FFB tweekers drives great. Ive heard some reviews say the FFB is a little off with PCARS 2, but maybe this can be fixed just like the 1st game. going to wait and see. if only modded tracks could be added , as I feel its needs this element to keep players coming back for more.
I'm cautiously optimistic. After Dirt4 debacle, I'm going to wait to see some real world reviews from actual sim racers. Dirt4 was the first game I've paid full price for on release day in a long long time ... talk about a let down. Fool me once, shame on me, fool me twice ...
OMG ..I totaly caved in and the game is now downloading loi i even got the deluxe .. I'm such a sucker !..but I DONT CARE ! lhaha I liked pC1 so im sure i will use it & have fun with it ! . I read some of those same reviews Roger ..BUT ..I also found some very positive reviews ! In the end it comes down to is if fun and captivating enough to keep you playing .. Im betting yes .. well ,enough for me anyway ..
I will buy it, even i am not convinced it will be a big progress. Graphics are pretty close to pc1. But they solved the problem with saving different setups and improved the driving-engine. Hopefully they fixed some online bugs so that we can iuse it perfect at SRO.
Well i must say it is allot better than pC1 , it's pretty much the same game just better .. after 15 or so min of tweaking my FFB i got it to feel allot more like what i wanted compared to pC1 where i could never get rid of that forced center spring feel ..with this I can tune it out .. over all first impressions are Yes i like it .. It has a better over all feel ..pretty close to rf2 once you tweek it , Its still to early to do a full review but I like it so far and still tweaking the FFB but already just after 1 hr of playing the over all FFB feel has surpassed pc1 ..its very close to pC1 with default but better road feel then once you start adjusting things it really comes alive .. I did 2 MP races joined one & hosted one , GT3's at Spa ... I set Q up for 15 min and with 3 min to go my server was full ..had some good close battles with no lag ! so that was nice ! The mp is allot smoother than pC1 so nice improvement there .. It auto detected my Nvid 1080 & set everything to high and a few to ultra and even set it in 4k without me having to set it my self , I assume it used my native desktop as its set in 4k ... it looks stunning !.. fps were never an issue ... Controller set up was a breeze for me ..it detected my G27 wheel & peddles no prob , (*f you have miss match set up with different brands of peddle vrs wheel you will need to set them in game , in car <yes you can do that now .. you can pause and get to all the settings stuff from on track in car ) there are some players that cant get there miss match wheels/peddles to calibrate from the main set up screen but in game it works so they just did it from there as it saves it just the same .. One nice feature added: You can now manually drive your car in & out of the pits with full control ! Yes ! makes if feel allot more like a sim ..you turn it off or on in your settings and its server dependent so if server has it off you get auto drive ;-( If your expecting something other that what pC1 is its pretty much in the same game shell , when i first fired it up it was almost exactly what pC1 is with different colors & seen's .it's inside where you see & feel the changes ..
We are very interested in the race results that version 2 generates. If you are able to locate a race result file then please send us a copy for analysis. Thanks!
I just don't get it why Developers of these sims can't even provide a simple text file of what it can/can't do e.g. produce results etc. we dam well pay enough to not have to trial & error it or second guess it ourselves!
As of yet, I'm undecided to buy it. I'm a bit fearfull that it's like an arcade driving game. My main concern is the physics of the game ... is it good enough to be sim-like? Rob, are the driving physics just as good as Assetto Corsa or less so?
No .. you need to download it from steam . I will check but for now I only hosted with the in game hosting feature , I will have a look Hard to say because what each sim thinks is right can vary across the board .. to me the cars seem to act properly as im still tweeking the FFB and also car set ups make a big difference ,I did notice when having a collision with another car it seemed pretty real .. cars were not flying all over the place .. It has its own feel ,& the rear is not as planted as AC .. I will say AC cars are allot easier to drive out of the box .. "is it good enough to be sim like" .. I have not spent enough time with it yet but i would say its more sim like than pC1 with the option's to turn off all the auto drive in the pits stuff and you can also turn off the part where AI takes control right after you cross the finish line to force a cool down lap .. I will report back after more testing ..
Ok after more testing with MP I was able to set up a full real style hard core sim experience using the settings shown here ,notice the force cool down lap & manual pit features are what turn off the AI auto pit lane stuff so you now have full control over the car at all times ..and it even have pit stop mistakes ! lol awesome stuff guys ..
So.....apart from looking better, its almost getting things right to the stage that rFactor did properly over 10 yrs ago? Rob come on....... how can you get excited about controlling your own pitstops and driving a cool-down lap?
Haha Well Only 3 main stream sims can do this rf1/Am & rF2 and they are all ISI based code ' It's something i thought would be the norm for any racing game but no ... & when AC came out with the arcade AI pit control i was very disappointed .. same with pC1, now pC2 takes up a notch adding another twist with random pit stop errors ! .. You still cant do it in AC , they keep the traning wheels on you it bugs the hell out of me .. pC2 is very deep in things that you wont find untill you start digging .. its actually quite a masterpiece for what it is .. & it also has brodcast mode with a slot for camera guy & announcer with custom overleys & controls to live stream any of your online events built right in .. so ya im pretty stoked on it so far & im a die hard rF2 junky so .... but i do have an open mind and can enjoy it for what it is .. and i am enjoying it allot right now ..,
