This will be the last race before the Euro daylight savings time change. If you're in the US or CA the change has already taken place 3 weeks ago so remember the race will be 1hr later but still 20:30 GMT / Q @ 20:15 GMT .. We will have a 1hr Practice session starting around 19:10 GMT.. ...
Good race all, Congrats Nick and podium. Apologies for lagging out, hope I didn't cause any issues for anyone else, seems to freeze my game for a millisecond, it's an issue with my PC rather than my Internet connection. Hopefully I'll have it sorted before the next LMU race.
Enjoyed this one, was hoping to catch Ed towards the end but misjudged fuel and had to pit. Not enough practice to figure out best strategy or setup yet Grats to the podium and finishers! p.s. just saw the broadcast and I think Rob is right on the fuel, I was expecting it to add fuel to the total but I ended up short - thanks for highlighting that @Rob Milliken
decided to pit early to make it interesting, managed to pass Hue Smith on track after the stop and then Lorn Martin bailed for the pits just as I was about to draft past, then robin came out of the pits just in front, good battle between us, overtook on the front straight but then lost the rear into lezmo 1 and he was back through, tried a move on the inside of the parabolica but there was no grip offline and just locked up and sailed straight on and he was back through again, robin then spun in the parabolica on another lap which put me in the lead but did not feel I earnt it so let him back through after the front two pitted once I knew it was just us for the win, was looking forward to a good battle at the end but he had to pit for a splash instead.
grats to winners well earned you had good pace, it was last min decision for me to race so i jumped on server and tried to get to grips with it couldn't get a set dialed in to be fast enough and stable, to many little spins not enough pace but made it to the end so we move on
I get those mini freezes in rF2 when I have record replays enabled, so maybe try turning them off and see if it makes any difference. I'm assuming LMU has replays? I've not used it enough to know at the moment.
LMU does have replays, but based on the early-days discussions, it's my understanding they can't really be turned off. There wasn't an option in the "settings" menus for it, and people were saying last year that even setting the line in the "player.json" to "false" only prevents them from being saved, rather than saving any PC resources. So i set my "json" back to "true" and noticed no difference. Haven't seen any indication that this has been changed. Reducing graphics settings and lowering the sound effects drastically did, however make a big difference (game still looks and sounds better than rF2). Reducing the number of visible cars helps, but that wouldn't have been the issue yesterday, unfortunately. For me, the problem was wildly fluctuating frame rates due to a geriatric CPU and GPU. That was eventually resolved by vsync (it's cheaper than a new PC build). Although a surprise 58 car grid (Race Control said it would be 38 max) was a bit sketchy at first and then again when the HY's came thru the first time in clumps. Once things spread out a bit it was only one or two specific HY's that were jumping back and forth a bit as they passed, and the game was enjoyably steady. [your mileage may vary]
I was sure you were going to get me there at the end! Lucky for me. That let me survive a mistake I made when I decided to not take new tires. When I saw that you and Lorne (I think) were on mediums I was worried you guys weren't going to take tires at the stop and so I decided to try to go the whole way with one set of softs. I think I would have been better off if I had changed. Either way it was a fun race!
A pretty normal race for me (unfortunately). Fell foul to something during the rolling start and was given a Drive Through as soon as the race began. That, of course, lead to a Stop-&-Go for speeding in the pit lane, then immediately into a world of Blue Flags for the remainder of the race Had a couple of minor 'offs' then a major one which required 2 minutes for repairs, inevitably followed by another Drive Through for speeding . . . What finally took me out of the race was my VR headset. It just suddenly turned off, leaving me completely blind I gave it a moment, hoping it would come back, but eventually had to pull the plug. On retrospect, after watching Rob's brilliant broadcast, I should have pulled the plug immediately. I'm relieved the 3 cars that found me stranded were able to avoid a collision. Congrats to all starters, particularly the podium finishers. Special mention to @Barrett Erickson, who I thought drove a great race (it must be strange for you, driving a non Foot Sniffing Pig car ) Big thanks also to our helicopter pilot and as always, it's an honour to be in the same race as the infamous 'Smith & Jones' Roll on Portugal!
