WELCOME TO ROUND 4 SHANGHAI INTERNATIONAL CIRCUIT

    Shanghai International Circuit
Shanghai International Circuit was conceived by the Shanghai authorities as a way to showcase the city to the world. A 5.3 sq km site was chosen in the Jiading District in the north west of the city, close to major car parts manufacturing facilities and a budget of 2.6 billion yuan ($450 million) raised through a government-funded joint-venture company, the Shanghai Jiushi Group.

Herman Tilke was chosen to design the track and associated buildings, and between April and May 2003, engineers visited the site to draw up their plans. The site was actually a swampland, previously used as rice paddy fields, and extensive groundworks had to be completed to construct the circuit. For 18 months some 3,000 workers were on site daily to complete the facility – a remarkable feat of both engineering and logistics.

    WHAT WEATHER WOULD YOU LIKE?

For this round, you can give suggestions below for what weather you would like.
Think of night to day / day to night / heavy cloud cover / medium rain / heavy rain / drizzle / dry to wet / wet to dry ... or a combination of all things.

Let me know how you would like the weather to progress over 93 racing minutes below. I will go for the most common request. If you agree with someone else, give it a "like".

I will think about what sort of weather to do with qualification!
Maybe a storm so we get to see a shake-up of the regular grid list.

I want dry weather, daylight, clear blue skies and maximum grip.

I'd like day/night or night/day, a large margherita pizza, a vr headset that works the entire race and a 2 lap head-start.

Can I change the car for another one? This Aston Martin is very difficult to drive for such a pace, I don’t remember a race that exhausted me so much.

I don't mind, but since Toni Talvitie is your main rival, he has to agree.

THIS WILL BE THE WEATHER FOR SHANGHAI / FULL DAYLIGHT RACE
(The values in the screenshot say "0%", but I've corrected that on the server)

Well due to "real life" this is much later than planned but managed to finish this AO Racing Dragon inspired livery. Using "Spike" (from IMSA/ELMS) I've done my own version inspired by that same idea. So say hello to Spikes slightly more snarly cousin...lol.

It was good fun to do something from scratch but took a while. Usual OCD designer issues.... :)

The Oreca 05 actually helps the livery a bit more as the nose section and the rear wheel arch covers are much larger than on the Oreca 07. So I could fit in the legs and feet on the sidepod, and the mouth and nose are more prominent on the front section.

I may do a version of this for the Oreca 07 or possibly the United Racing Design version of the Oreca 07 for Assetto Corsa. We'll see.

Anyway I'll keep this one safe because although we only have a few rounds left I'm sure this mod will be used again at some point.

Hopefully I will find some spare time to practice this time around! :)

Hoping to spend some solid time practicing over the next few nights, the times on the server are certainly interesting so far! :)

Did some practise last night. Thanks for this version of Shanghai. Far nicer than the other version. The drainage covers are far kinder! Lol.

Lapping in the 58s, (think I've dialled in too much understeer), but I think the quick times will be in the 54s or even 53s, so some work is still to do. It's interesting that even with 10% wet track, the lap times drop off quite considerably.

Not a big fan of changing mid series.
weather conditions should be set at beginning of series and not change mid series.
    just my opinion.

Yeah I've done a lot of practice so far and I'm happy with where I am but obviously the changing conditions make it a bit of a lottery for this one. It will come down to staying on the track and pitting at the right moment. Pace is important of course but this one will be more about surviving I think!:)

I misread the original weather post at first, saw the zero's and assumed the race will just be overcast, then realised there will be rain! It's been a long week at work...:)
