BROADCAST This special event will be broadcast by Rob Milliken. **************************************************************** No Esc. on track rule in Qualification In qualification, you can not press Escape (Esc.) while on track (if you crash) and then go back out again. If you want to do another run, you have to come into the pits first. This is to protect the other drivers from someone taking abnormal risks to set a good lap time and crashing (other cars). THE RACE We will simulate the Le Mans 24H by starting the race in-game at 16:00 PM and doing the race in 2.4 hours (144 minutes) with a timescale of x10. This will give us a full day-night-day cycle. How does the race start? The race starts with a Partial Formation lap. When the pole-sitters of each class exit the apex of TETRE ROUGE, leading on to the MULSANNE STRAIGHT, the race is on for all of your class. Cars behind can not overtake any car before they exit the last corner. PITSTOPS You have to enter the pit lane at the official pit lane ENTRY and go out at the official pit lane EXIT. It is not allowed to cut into / or leave your pit box in the middle of the pit lane over the closed line. If you do this, you will get a 30 seconds time penalty on your end result. It is erratic behaviour and dangerous to other drivers. CAR CLASSES There are 3 car classes in this event: Class 1 Division II Alfa Romeo Guilia TZ___________top speed 233 km/h | FPL 7.11 | tankcapacity 100 litres Division II Alpine A110__________________top speed 231 km/h | FPL 4.31 | tankcapacity 40 litres Division II Lotus 23B____________________top speed 230 km/h | FPL 3.49 | tankcapacity 34 litres Division II Porsche 904 GTS______________top speed 237 km/h | FPL 7.18 | tankcapacity 110 litres Class 2 Division III Corvette C2 Stingray_________top speed 305 km/h | FPL 6.68 | tankcapacity 136 litres Division III Ferrari 250 GTO Series I______top speed 298 km/h | FPL 7.18 | tankcapacity 133 litres Division III Shelby Daytona Coupe_______top speed 300 km/h | FPL 7.15 | tankcapacity 108 litres Class 3 Prototype Ferrari 330 P4 ________________top speed 314 km/h | FPL 5.34 | tankcapacity 114 litres (best balanced, lightest, short braking distance) Prototype Ford GT40 Mk.IV ______________top speed 339 km/h | FPL 4.36 | tankcapacity 159 litres (very heavy, extreme long braking distance, impressive top-speed) Prototype Jaguar XJ13 1967 _____________top speed 324 km/h | FPL 5.98 | tankcapacity 181 litres (medium heavy, medium braking distance, rain tyres-but sketchy in the rain) The cars inside each class are not BOP'd in terms of straightline top-speed. The Balance Of Performance comes from characteristics like braking distance, car weight, max. fuel-tank capacity, fuel per lap, etc. In that sense, they are historically simulated. Look at the data I got from testing Division II and the Prototypes above. You have to pick the car that is best suited for you. HISTORY The 1964 24 Hours of Le Mans was the 32nd Grand Prix of Endurance, and took place on 20 and 21 June 1964. It was also the ninth round of the 1964 World Sportscar Championship season. This year marked the arrival of American teams in force, with Ford V8 engines in ten cars. It also marked the last appearance of Aston Martin and Jaguar for twenty years. Over half the entrants were mid- or rear-engined, and almost half the field had a 3-litre engine or bigger. But the number of retirements due to gearbox and clutch issues from the increased power in the cars was noticeable. Ferrari was the winner for a record fifth year in a row – the 275 P of Nino Vaccarella and former Ferrari-privateer Jean Guichet covered a record distance. The second was the Ferrari of Graham Hill and Jo Bonnier for the British Maranello Concessionaires team, ahead of the works 330 P of John Surtees and Lorenzo Bandini. Ferrari dominance of the GT category was broken for the first time however by the new Shelby Cobra of Dan Gurney and Bob Bondurant finishing in fourth ahead of two of the Ferrari 250 GTOs. 1964 24H of Le Mans (Rare French Film)
