History [edit] Built in 1963, Zolder hosted the Formula One Belgian Grand Prix on 10 separate occasions in the 1970s and 1980s, as well as the 1980 Belgian motorcycle Grand Prix. F1 moved to Zolder in 1973 and with the exception of a race at Nivelles-Baulers in 1974, Zolder was the location of the Belgian Grand Prix until 1982. That year, Canadian driver Gilles Villeneuve was killed during qualifying at the 1982 Belgian Grand Prix. Villeneuve's Ferrari 126C2 collided at speed with the March 821 of Jochen Mass. The Ferrari was torn up in the accident and when rolling, Villeneuve was thrown from the car. After Villeneuve's death, the Belgian Grand Prix was held at Spa-Francorchamps in 1983, before returning to Zolder one final time in 1984. Fittingly, Ferrari driver Michele Alboreto won the race carrying Villeneuve's #27 on his car. Since 1985, the Belgian Grand Prix has permanently moved to Spa. Zolder has also been used for cycling events including the UCI Road World Championships twice in 1969 and 2002 and the UCI Cyclo-cross World Championships in 1970, 2002 and 2016. The latter saw the first confirmed use of mechanical doping when Femke Van den Driessche was found to have a secret motor inside her bike.[2] Since 2009, Circuit Zolder has hosted a cyclo-cross race in December for the World Cup. The circuit hosted the UCI BMX World Championships in 2015.[3] In 2019 and for the first time ever the UCI BMX World Championships returned to Circuit Zolder. Zolder F1 Circuit Onboard 1975
My poor brain is going to struggle to call this on the night I don't know if there is any way of knowing who got fastest lap in the race when in the server?
Quick race info: - This event will be broadcast by Neil Wood. - Race password has been set here. - Fuel is x 100% - Damage is x 50% - Qual: 15 min - Qual: You can not press esc. on track and do another run. You have to go into the pits first (if you are wrecked by another driver, you can press Esc and do another lap). - Race: 60 min (no mandatory pitstop) - Standing start when the lights go out.
well, it was going ok but i emptied one can of ehm.. drinks and as you drink that final part, have to lift head so couldnt see too much and took a little flight at the bridge or what ever. Was little gutted but atleast damage was minor so could finish the race. Gz Podium and every brave warrior finishing race! Thx for all the racing, cool stuff!
Was split between running with the rear wing or not for this race, with no wing being marginally faster but a lot harder to drive. In hindsight I should have tried to run with 0 wing. Race start was crap and my clutch slipped once again, so I had a drive-through penalty. It was a recovery race after that and I had to push 100% every lap to try and make the gap up, which I slowly did over the rest of the race. Eventually finished just 4 seconds behind Kiril in the lead, which I'm happy about but it's still disappointing. Had far too much bad luck this season with jump starts and the pitlane being broken on a track, but happy with 2nd in the championship. Congrats to @Kiril Kirilov on taking it in the end.
Well that was nearly a grandstand finish!!! I mean I nearly didn't make it to broadcast because YouTube authentication was playing up. So all flustered I went in live... little later than normal but all worked out I think. I hope I did OK.
Grats to Kiril Kirilov on a job well done, winning the championship! I want to thank you all for supporting this championship and Neil Wood especially for investing his time to broadcast this series. You did an excellent job. Thank you! Please check out this link if you want to take part in the next Thursday series. It will not be broadcast, however.
I was on a business trip unfortunately, I wanted to unregister on Tuesday but the site was down it seemed at the time. Shame I missed 2 rounds while being just a single point from Kiril after 4 rounds.. that being said, well done to Kiril with the win and Maddie for coming back to 2nd position after some bad races. And Michal for the last podium position. Hoping for some more AC in the future with SRO, who knows..
Since you haven't used wings even on high-downforce racetracks, I assumed you definitely wouldn't use wings on this track. As the pace with rear wing set on 1 was a little slower, I thought I wouldn't have a chance on the straights. So I set the front and rear wing to zero and tried to get on with it. What can I say? It worked out! Thanks to everyone for the great racing. And of course to Neil for the great broadcast. Like Laurent, I'm hoping for a next AC Championship. See you there!
Unfortunately, there will not be another Assetto Corsa series at SRO for the foreseeable future. I have to pay for the Server rental and pay for the broadcast, and the number of drivers attending does not justify the cost. I am thankful for the support of the current drivers, but we are too few. Ken Jagger has also confirmed he will not be running another AC series, because the time/cost investment is not worth it anymore.
