A member noticed quicksand in a run-off section of the track. I overlooked that.

We are now running CIRCUIT PAUL RICARD PROTO v1.05.
Please subscribe to the track on Steam.

Has anyone figured out how to race the AI on this track? They all pit after lap 1 on my machine. (Riverside works fine...)

Update - works fine with a rolling start but not a standing start!

    1. All 6 events of this series will be broadcast
Broadcasters: Rob Milliken & Neil Wood

    2. PAUL RICARD Conditions
    1) The race will start at 02:00 PM (in-game time of course).
    2) Time acceleration is normal. Fuel = normal, tyres = x 3.
    3) Cut Track points are set to 6
    4) 100% damage
    5) This event has a formation lap. The pole sitters can start racing coming out of the last corner.
    6) Qualification is NOT set to "private". We go out all together at the same time for 15 minutes.
    7) The weather is completely dry.
    8) See the "DISCO PROCEDURE".
IT IS IMPORTANT THAT YOU HAVE A HEADSET CONNECTED TO TEAM SPEAK, WITH OR WITHOUT A MIC.
WHILE ON THE SERVER, WE WILL ALL GO TO THE "RFACTOR2" ROOM ON TEAM SPEAK FOR THE RACE BRIEFING DURING WARMUP TO RECEIVE INSTRUCTIONS.

    9. PUNTING:
    - If you punt a driver, you have to stop and give the track position back.
    - If you are not able to give the track position back, you have to do a pitlane drive-through.
    - if you do not give the position back or do a drive-through, you will go 3 positions down in the end result after the race.
    - Drivers who are punted can report to me, John van der Geest/admin, if the offender did none of the above.

    3. The use of the Esc. key in Qualification
Use of the Esc key during Qualifying is the equivalent of stopping your car and getting out. This may be done only in your pit stall. There are very few exceptions to this rule. Here are the only two we will currently consider. These exceptions are subject to change at any time:
    1. You run out of fuel in the pit lane before reaching your pit stall.
    2. You sustain damage to your car as a result of another driver and cannot make it back to your pit stall. You must prove your qualifying session was wrecked by another driver and that you made an attempt to return to pit lane.

If you use the Esc key in any location other than your pit stall, your Qualifying session is over and you may not return to the track.

    4. You can find the password for the race server on the PAUL RICARD event page.

    5. Unregistering in time if you can't make it.

    6. Please use the SAME NAME in the rFactor 2 game as on our SRO signup list or it won't match in our automated result processing.

You can change your name in the rFactor 2 "Profile" menu.

    7. If you plan to PROTEST another driver, you have to wait 24 hours counting from the end of the race.
Any protest filed before that time will be viewed as not received. You can find the rules about submitting a protest here.

    8. You can find the server by typing SRO or the track name. Add the server to your favourites so you can always find it.
If you can't find the server in the rFactor 2 server list, you can access this way:
    1. click on this link: https://simracepackages.lima-city.de/rF2server/
    2. scroll down to "SRO" (it's alphabetical)
    3. choose the correct server and join with the password (see point 4 above)
    4. the server will start automatically and will take you to the event

Out of interest, why did @Phil Brown get a DQ during the first round?

Then I hope you have more luck in two weeks, Randy.

Regarding my race, the result exceeds my expectations. First race was not really good pace wise. So quali result was already a positive surprise. First laps were not that good, it felt that I was somewhat like a cork in the bottle. But I guess to save my front tyres was a reasonable thing to do. Even though Toni, Björn and Freddy did a better job here. Under normal circumstances I do not finish on the podium. But of course I take it, especially because John made me work for it. Not sure if some moves lapping Gts were a bit to aggressive, but there was not much margin.

Apart from that, it seems zero stop Ed is back (I have a deja-vu, good that I am not in your class ;) ), as said congrats. Although the GTs would deserve a bigger grid.

Good qualifying lap and great race.
1st race of series so there were some considerations going on whole race.
How much to save fuel while driving and what if there is the extra lap at the end and secondly tyrewear and how much will grip drop while tires wear down..
So took it easy, kept it smooth while did calculate fuel every 15 minutes.
At 30minutes was going to be tight on fuel but on second half managed to save it to finish race plus extra lap.

@Ed Jones: What's a guy gotta do to slow you down? Clearly, ramming you off the track doesn't do it :D Joking aside, my humble apologies Ed for the first lap incident. I'm glad it didn't overly affect your finishing position. Sincere congrats on your well deserved win and again, my apologies for making your race harder than need be.

Great race guys with everyone finishing.
I made a stupid, stupid mistake at green, putting my car into 1st gear and spinning out immediately. Span again in the first complex, hitting the fence. Thought about abandoning but pulled myself together and cracked on. Lost about 20 seconds but maintained that gap pretty much until the end.
Pit stops for Ben and Gilles saw me move up two places. Unfortunately, I calculated that I didn't have enough fuel and my tyres were grumbling. Figured I'd just get a splash and dash, keep the tyres and maybe get out to keep my spot. Forgot to turn off 'repair damage' and took a few seconds to figure out how to get going again. Came out of the pits 10 seconds behind Ben but couldn't reach him in the laps remaining.
Sorry for a few close calls with the Class A's. The speed difference is incredible and closing speed is hard to manage in the complexes. I got surprised a couple of times which maybe caused a couple of brown trousers moments.
Thank you all for a great race.

    Race report:
Fourth was all I could get out of it. I couldn't get closer to Philipp and close the 2 seconds. I had no overspeed.
What hindered me most was the long gearing I had chosen to save fuel. It felt like an early turbo coming out of slow corners. Press the pedal fully down ... 2 seconds nothing, and then the damn car starts to move. The fuel saving worked. Had only 2,5 litres left coming over the finish and the left front tyre was worn down to the bone LOL!

Thanks to everyone who showed up and decided to watch the F1 race later! :)

Grats on a great win, Toni! I was sincerely impressed by your laptimes
And well done, Gilles. Great podium. That was not an easy track.
It must scare you in the GT's every time a 917 comes flying by ...
