WELCOME TO CIRCUIT OF THE AMERICAS GP

Circuit of the Americas (COTA) is a Grade 1 FIA-specification 3.426-mile (5.514 km) motor racing track and facilities located in Austin, Texas, United States. The facility is home to the Formula One United States Grand Prix, NASCAR, and the Motorcycle Grand Prix of the Americas, a round in MotoGP and the FIA World Endurance Championship with the Lone Star Le Mans. It previously hosted the Australian V8 Supercars, the Americas Rallycross Championship, the American Le Mans Series, the Rolex Sports Car Series, the IMSA SportsCar Championship and the IndyCar Classic.

The circuit and Grand Prix were first proposed in the middle of 2010. The circuit was the first in the United States to be purpose-built for Formula One. The layout was conceived by promoter Tavo Hellmund and 1993 Motorcycle World Champion Kevin Schwantz[8] with the assistance of German architect and circuit designer Hermann Tilke, who has also designed the Sepang, Shanghai, Yas Marina, Istanbul, Bahrain, Yeongam, and Buddh circuits, as well as the reprofiling of the Hockenheimring and Fuji Speedway.

One more to go! Lets see if everyone can make it .... So far we have had some good racing, but small fields. We went through an update & the game seems solid for most players now .. still a ways to go, but so far I think the way the cars feel in ACE is right up there with the top sims out today if not showing some superiority:eek::D ..The potential is for sure there!
    Anyway:
Round 4 introduces us to the Lamborghini Huracán ST EVO2 - Super Trofeo. Our public server is up now with the new car added.
I set the server up and jumped on after our Round 3 ended. It filled up quickly! I took the Lambo & after one race, I can see it's very competitive with the Rati & the BMW! I was in the 2:10's in the Lambo...... I have no idea if this is good, but a rati won the race & my fastest lap beat his by almost 2 sec's! So for fun for round 4 we have 3 cars to choose from !

The last race was really weird, not least because I think I was in the lead for a while  (did some cars start from the pit lane?) but also weird because, no sooner had the race started, when my (default sim) hud shrank in front of my eyes and became so small I could no longer see it! All the information disappeared, right in front of me! :)
A couple of moments later, the hud started to reappear again. Very small at first, but it grew quickly and kept growing until it was so close to me and so large, that I couldn't easily make it out! It was massive! (Just realised, I should probably have mentioned I'm using VR and that I'm referring to VR) :)
Then, the massive hud turned upside down! Just swiveled round 180 degrees! Un-believable and now, virtually un-usable! I did congratulate myself for eventually managing to work out one piece of information from the oversized hud, when I concluded there was 13 minutes of the race left, but then the race ended almost immediately
The hud has now been joined in the 'up-side-down-craze' by all the menus,
as they are also upside-down :(
So that small pita, along with the much, much bigger pita, which is that Evo is really badly optimized for VR :( At the moment, anyway.
With absolutely everything either turned off, or as low as it will go, I still struggle to reach a barely usable VR frame rate in Evo.
LMU might have been as bad for a while? It's certainly much better now than it used to be. I can run a full LMU grid, at pretty decent settings, without breaking a sweat. I imagine Evo will get there as well and I guess this is just a long-winded way of saying I'm pulling out of tomorrow's race. Hope it's a great one guys, have fun.

LOL :D ... man psychedelic trippn';) ..I wonder if something is going on with the wheel/buttons/assignments thats giving commands? I haven't heard anything like that on the support discord ... The game is still in EA so ya hopefully it will be better optimized as the builds come out .. sry you can't make it .. I must say, for me the game feels & drives the best out of all the sims i have:eek::)... prob because I also have a logi Pro DD with True Force & Kunos has built TF into the game .. that & having a 4090 doesn't hurt either.. It runs great on my machine..

Being only 5 drivers now on a sim we cant even run results with makes me want to just leave the server 'open join' for the Race & see how many jump on..

It was a bit like that :D
I'm sure if I was to run Evo on a flat-screen, my system would handle it okay. I know I'd be able to find a compromise between graphics and fps that would keep me happy :) But Evo in VR seems like a different beast to non VR Evo. VR Evo is not as refined, not as civilized. It's not been tamed yet and it doesn't do compromises. It has a lot less in common with Viscount Greystoke than with Tarzan. You know, it's more Mr. Hyde than Dr. Jekyll. More big green guy than Dr. Banner :)
I agree, this sim drives / feels really good. For me, it's only the VR that lets it down. My rig isn't set up for flat-screen and I don't want to sim on flat-screen anyway, so, for me, a smooth VR experience is kind of a must for any sim. VR in AC is amazing, so I'm sure VR in Evo will eventually be amazing too.
I can show up for the race if it matters. I don't mind taking the start, won't guarantee being there at the finish, but I'm more than happy to make up the numbers if it helps anything.
