SIGN UP HERE GRAND PRIX OF ZANDVOORT Oulton Park in Cheshire is the second North West track that hosted Formula One races from 1954 to 1972. However, unlike Aintree, this track never hosted an official Grand Prix. Instead, it hosted the Gold Cup, a non-championship event on the F1 calendar. Once the grounds of Oulton Hall, which burned down in 1926, Oulton Park sits within a beautiful parkland setting as the most picturesque motor racing circuit in the UK. Oulton Park in the 1950s transformed from war-damaged parkland into a significant motor racing venue, with the Mid-Cheshire Car Club holding the first races in 1953, quickly attracting Formula 1 teams and legends like Stirling Moss, hosting the non-championship International Gold Cup, and featuring early club races and sidecar events on its original, nearly rectangular layout. The use of the Esc key in Qualification Use of the Esc key during Qualifying is the equivalent of stopping your car and getting out. This may be done only in your pit stall. There are very few exceptions to this rule. Here are the only two we will currently consider. These exceptions are subject to change at any time: 1. You run out of fuel in the pit lane before reaching your pit stall. 2. You sustain damage to your car as a result of another driver and cannot make it back to your pit stall. You must prove your qualifying session was wrecked by another driver and that you made an attempt to return to pit lane. If you use the Esc key in any location other than your pit stall, your Qualifying session is over and you may not return to the track. 6. What happened to the rain? I was looking forward to see it get damp!!! (that's what she said!) Well done all, it's been a great series and I have thoroughly enjoyed broadcasting it for everyone! Hopefully I have finally got the volume levels sorted
@Gert-Jan van Osch If you hadn’t lost control of the car on the bump, it might have been me who’d gone off the track not long after! I did my best to keep up my pace, but you were still faster and you kept the pressure on me It was the track I found the most difficult in the series, one small mistake and it’s a big crash Well done to everyone. Well done to Maddie for her total domination of the championship Thanks to John for this series and to Neil for the stream!
Was weighing up just not doing qualifying and starting from the back for fun since the championship was already wrapped up. Decided to do a scruffy lap late on which put me on the front row. Only put 64 liters in the car for the start, thinking that would be easily enough, especially for the "rain in the last 20 minutes." The start was good and I pulled a short gap to Toni who had issues a few laps in. It was fairly easy to get into a rhythm here despite the difficult of the car and track combo and I just measured my pace and focussed on consistency. Towards the end I realised that I didn't have enough fuel to finish so I dropped my pace further (about 1 to 2 seconds) and lifted as much as I could. Crossed the line with only 0.2 liters which was a relief. Congrats to the rest of the podium and the finishers. It was an enjoyable series overall, despite some of the issues with the car and the problems in Napoli, so thanks to the admins for organising it.
Thanks John for organizing this series, it was a totally new challenge for me to drive these really old cars. Congrats to Maddie for the infernal rythm again. I tried to keep up as much as I could for the the first 20 minutes but I struggled with an front left tyre that went to its full lifespan and 0% for the last 5 minutes of the race, dropping my pace in consequence. I didn't know if it was the case for the Cooper Climax also but I really struggled with tyre management on these 2 races with the Ferrari. I feel sorry for you Toni for your crash, that could have been a nice race again. Congrats to all the drivers and thank you for these really cool thursday nights. Hoping to do more of that in the others series !
Once I got into a rhytm after the first laps I was catching up a few tenths a lap, but I also saw you struggle sometime with rear steppng out. When I spun it was the one time my car became loose coming onto Scheivlak and I could not catch it again causing my spin. I had little suspension damage and my lap time dropped by 0.5s. I was lucky not to lose a place and in the end I just brought the car home safe.
Being home late from work having a flat tire I was glad to be make it to yesterdays race. Luckily it was a dry race and I was happy to qualify in the top 5. After the opening laps I lost a position to Julian and was getting into a flow. I made a few shifting mistakes once shifting in neutral and once to 2nd, with the H pattern shifter, while I should have shifted to 4th on the back stretch. I was really lucky once not to crash. Being 5s down on Julian I noticed I started to catch up little by litte and came up to 1.5s losing the rear coming onto Scheivlak and could not catch it to make the turn and hit the fence. Having minor rear suspension damage, I lost 10s to Julian, but did not lose a position. It broke the flow and due to suspension damage my lap times were 0.5s slower. The gap to the people behind was sufficient to manage and keep the position in the end. The balance of the car setupwas very good also with lower fuel and increasing grip. I enjoyed driving this series, thanks for John for organizing. Congrats to Maddie in winning the championship and having a great campaign dominating the series. Since I drive online mostly in winter months when days are short and its cold outside I am looking forward to join a series midweeks next fall/winter. CU later and all the best to everyone at Simracingonline...
THANK YOU ALL FOR SUPPORTING THIS EXCITING SERIES! I have done my best to make it a real drivers series with lots of challenges. The cars and tracks were tricky, but you all did a very fine job! Also, the drivers conduct to each other was on a high level. GRATS TO MADDIE SHEPHERD FOR WINNING THE CHAMPIONSHIP, and well done to everybody who took part!
