Welcome to the "DNF series - F1 Mclaren M23".

This series is called "The DNF series" because of the challenge the car and selected tracks posses to the driver. That is not to say that the car/track combos are "too" difficult, merely that you will be met with a set of circumstances that will have you "shift" up a gear. Any car and track is save to drive of course, if you don't look for the limits, but if you do drive it on the limit, then this is the series for you.

    Mclaren M23 History
It was introduced for the 1973 season and scored pole position with Denny Hulme on its very first outing. Hulme and Peter Revson took three wins between them that season, while rookie Jody Scheckter nearly added a fourth. Scheckter was responsible for one of the biggest accidents Formula One has ever seen, at the 1973 British Grand Prix, when he spun his M23 in front of the pack. Emerson Fittipaldi joined McLaren from Lotus in 1974. His knowledge of the Lotus 72 helped McLaren develop the M23 and that season Fittipaldi gave McLaren its first drivers' and constructors' world championships, beating Ferrari, Tyrrell and Lotus.

Further development in 1975 – including a 6-speed gearbox, a novelty for the time – helped Fittipaldi to second in the drivers' championship behind Niki Lauda, who had the benefit of Ferrari's 312T chassis and McLaren to third in the constructors' championship, behind Ferrari and Brabham. The team experimented with different bodywork styles, including aerodynamic kickups in front of the rear wheels, different nose profiles and extended bodywork in front of the rear wheels, housing the oil coolers. Most of these changes were adopted for the M23 and its successor, the McLaren M26. At the end of 1975 Fittipaldi left the team to join his brother's Copersucar-sponsored Fittipaldi Automotive team. He was replaced by James Hunt, who went on to win a dramatic and controversial 1976 season with the final evolution M23, the M23D.

When the replacement McLaren M26 proved troublesome, Hunt and Jochen Mass relied on the M23 in the early part of the 1977 season, and even though the car was now four years old it was still competitive.

The M23 was never the most technically advanced F1 car, but sound preparation and continual development helped it win 16 Grands Prix, two drivers' and one constructors' world championships in its lifetime.

The M23 was also modified for use in Formula 5000 racing. Australian driver John McCormack drove a Leyland powered M23 to win the 1977 Australian Drivers' Championship. McCormack also put his M23 on pole for the 1978 Australian Grand Prix.

    Mclaren M23
We will drive only 1 car: the Mclaren M23.
The Mclaren M23 is a Studio 397 car and is part of the standard content. So it's a free car you can find in the "Mclaren" section.

    ****************************************************************

    Skin pack
The default "Mclaren M23 Shadow" skin pack is pretty ugly and boring. Therefore we will use a costum skin pack that you can download here:
    http://www.mediafire.com/file/jjez77hkz123fdk/McLaren_M23_1975.zip/file
To install : extract it to your settings folder (SteamApps\common\rFactor 2\UserData\player\Settings)

You are free to design and use your own carskin aswell !

    ****************************************************************

    How does each race start?
All races will have a standing start.
    There is no formation lap

    ****************************************************************

    No-shows
If a driver does not show up for a race without unregistering for that event or letting me know that he can't make it in the event-forum, he will be taken out of the complete series.

(You don't have to unregister for the whole series. You can unregister only for the race you can't do.)

    ****************************************************************

No Esc. on track rule in Qualification
In qualification you can not press Escape (Esc.) while on track (if you crash) and then go back out again.
If you want to do another run, you have to come into the pits first.

This is to protect the other drivers from someone taking abnormal risks to set a good lap time and crashing (other cars).

    ****************************************************************

    Teamspeak
Teamspeak is one of the features of Sim Racing Online.
If you would like to hook up with other drivers on Teamspeak before the race (or any time), here is the forum link for the SRO Teamspeak address and password:
    https://www.simracingonline.co.uk/threads/teamspeak-ip-address-password.19/

For who are not familiar with Teamspeak, you need to add the Sim Racing Online channel to your "bookmarks".

I have decided to leave the setup settings completely open, so the car can be tuned better for specific tracks.
You can now change all setup settings from race 1 on.

We need some more people in this series. The max. signup is 24 drivers and we're stuck on 10 right now.
The Studio 397 F1 Mclaren M23 is a great car to drive and the tracks will provide some exciting racing. Crossing the finish line you will be like "Wow, gimme some more of that ...!"

Don't let the title "DNF Series" fool you. It's just like any other series. The only difference is that you have to do a little practice. It's not like "Oh, I've got nothing to do tonight. Let's do a race". Other then that, it's the same ballpark. Get off the line and race.

I'm glad to announce that his series will be broadcasted.

    The commentators will be:
    Matheus Marcal
, whom you might remember from the rF2 Endurance series and the AC RSS GT1 series,
and Mac Shepherd, a star in the making with great potential, who will be making his debut as a commentator (as far as I know). Mac is a member form SRO who I approached.

Is there a reason we can only have 24 drivers ? rf2 can handle 30 no prob ..Is it because of one of the tracks ?just asking because we have 30 signed up atm .
    Thx !

No, the path seems good. It should be there. Can you see them offline?
This skin pack folder should be in /settings: McLaren_M23_1975

We need more drivers for the Assetto Corsa F1 1967 series.

We are currently on 13 signups, but we want at least 24 drivers on the grid.
If you like the F1 Mclaren M23, then you will absolutely love these cars. And we've got a very impressive historic tracklist for season 2.
You are free to choose any car you want, setups are open and the whole show will be broadcasted again.

    Let's gooooooooooooooooooooo!!! https://www.simracingonline.co.uk/racing/seriesinfo/118

Is there a specific pit speed limit for the series?

The pitlane speed limit is what the track allows for. At Rouen 55 it's 96 km/h.
