First of all, massive respect to those who made the handbrake work. To be honest, I have no key reserved for that, therefore this was no option for me.

@Scott Ring gave the pre-race advice to dive directly into the pitlane. Well Scott I have to admit that seemed very clever but what about the light at the pit exit, will it switch to green soon?

The answer that takes too damn long
See the attached picture, where a driver waits for the signal and mumbles some german words of anger

Of course, that was not my plan from the get-go, no but after it nearly didn´t get started (had a poor start) I was worried @Michael LaBelle will try a dive into the free space in front. Therefore I waited to close the line. That was the right thing to do because Michael was in fact a bit too late but to dive into the pit lane was questionable. Probably it would have been better to reverse if it would be legal.

Nevertheless, after that my pace was quite ok, with Toni and Csaba retired I gained two places. The Ibero-Swedish hand brake connection was showing some spectacular drifts and let me pass. Then I was some laps behind Michael, who showed really good pace but jumped over the curb into the sky. So another podium after a first lap drive-through. Maybe that is my new signature move (I hope not). See you hopefully in two weeks.

After blowing up my engine 3 or 4 times in practice, I just decided that this will be a carefully cautious drive and any mistakes will probably be deadly. and mostly just got lucky. Watching Toni get up to speed just in time for qual was impressive ! in less than 40 min?? I didnt think he'd get there that fast with this track & car!!

Well I just lost my situational awareness at the start and caused a bit of a mess. Sorry for that.
I did practice my start a few times during warm up. I am having trouble with standing starts lately. I am too fast off the line, always, so I end up having to pop out to the left or right or tail end the car ahead. I feel like I am at an intersection waiting for each car to move first. For me its green………… go like hell.
I really enjoyed this track and race. A first time driving here but I think a very good city track.
I worked a long time on the setup for this car and think I found the sweet spot. No need for a hand brake turn. The car required some different settings than I was used to with modern GT’s so I had to start from a different place. For Miami it was dampers, dampers, dampers and engine braking + (?) tamed it for me. I based this on the fact I (normally last) have finished 3rd and 4th so far and I was able to race Philipp for 3rd for some time until I pinched turn 1, hit the inside curve and nearly had enough time to order a drink from the flight attendant before landing, and lost the place.
    Cheers guys

With handbrake or without you are the real drift king here. I followed you in the last sector in qual and I was really baffled, how on earth can he drift like that. And then after the final turn on the straight you did something which looked like a power slide produced by put on handbrake. That made the impression to me: Toni is not only here for fast laptimes, no he is here to do stunts aswell :D

But good to know what it was not and from now on I will stop to spread inaccuracies.

Regarding handbrake turns I wonder if that ever happen in real life on these type of tracks
Even if these older slicks had less grip and wider grip window, street track have less grip levels but I would find that strange, many race cars don't even have an handbrake.

Anyway, fun car and races so far :)

I think that handbrake turns were very much limited to Rally cars and not to circuit racing, at least in the RW.
