All of the SRO Admin Team would like to thank those members who have been a part of our rFactor 1 online Championships, from the very first series for the DRM mod which started in March 2017. Although this sim has since been superceded by other, newer, glossier sims, it has always been held in high regard by many simracers for it's variety of car and track mods, allowing a wide variation of series to be offered to our members.

Sadly the level of registrations for our events have been slowly reducing, to such an extent that it has become difficult to justify the time and effort required to put these series together and then manage them to conclusion. Those members who had participated over the years in our series, were all notified some time ago, that unless they indicated their desire to continue with rFactor 1, we would be ceasing hosting for it. Unfortunately other than a small nucleus of 5-7 members, we did not get that commitment, so therefore the series for the fBMW mod which concluded tonight https://simracingonline.co.uk/racing/seriesinfo/282 is the last series to be hosted here.

We will now focus our attention on the other sims we host for and look forward to many more enjoyable and competitive series in the future.

Farewell old friend, you have been good to us for many many years!
Rf1 was my first racing sim. I was flying Falcon 4 & all the Janes flight sim games back then .. one of the guys in our flight squad (the 388th) downloaded the rf1 demo & told us how awesome the sense of speed was compared to the take off sequence of the flight Sims, we all tried it !! Omg it was so cool I never looked back, In the flight sims once you’re in the air that sense of speed is pretty much gone, it’s only taking off and landing & low flying when you get to see or feel it but this RF1 game had that amazing sense of speed the whole time ! That day I got the full game did the BABYFACTORY dance & been sim racing ever since!! Lol :) I will never forget racing cleos & megains at mills & toban on the BRO’s servers ! ( anyone remember back then?) That server was packed every night! You would show up & then you had to wait for someone to leave & hope you got in !! It was The only show in town so if you wanted to race that’s where you went, everybody was there, not like nowadays where we’re all split up with so many sim choices …. Good times Rf1 RIP :D

Yes I remember. I learned how to race with RF1 and joined those servers on occasion, which led me to R2P and now SRO. Thanks to Ken and all our admins for hosting the rfactor 1 series for these many years.
