The Caterham Academy is set to release as part of the upcoming 2022 Q3 August Content Drop for rFactor, alongside a raft of new content, features, fixes and improvements. The car will be made available as a new, free item within the Studio 397 Steam Workshop page, available to download for all users of the simulation once released. https://www.studio-397.com/2022/08/announcing-caterham-academy/
This car is not so well received by the community (and with reason). Read the comments on the Steam/rF2 Workshop for this car.
Consider if you like the car without reading "feedback" from the "gamers" that live to hate and dogpile on something
Well Neil, I don't mean any disrespect, but I agree with the haters for once. The car has almost no FFB and the gearbox is weird. You can't see the front wheels and if you shift back a gear you're making donuts. Plus the whole car feels very floaty. This is from my own experience.
I'm not to know any different as I haven't driven a Caterham in real life Plus many of the "haters" haven't either so I tend not to listen to what they have to say about a car they have never driven. I take the mod as given... if it changes then great, but not losing sleep over them
The front wheels will be fixed as it's a known bug & only in cockpit and VR so that's no issue. The lack of FFB is what's putting some ppl off, however there are a large number of players that actually own real Caterhams and are chiming in with their experience on the steering, That from someone who drives one IRL .. Also, if you crank up the camber it starts to feel pretty good!
I've tried the Caterham mod and the Mini Cooper mod and for me straight out of the box the Caterham was the better of the two. I don't think that either of them are that much representative of the actual cars to drive but I don't think that matters.
Car requires clutch on upshifts and proper blipping on downshifts. I run auto clutch on for this one as I can't use clutch but still blipping it required.
