Genesis Magma Racing has completed the first shakedown of the GMR-001 Hypercar, a major step in the team’s development programme ahead of its competitive debut in the 2026 FIA World Endurance Championship. Appearing in bare carbon fibre, the first of three planned development chassis ran for the first time with drivers Andre Lotterer and Pipo Derani behind the wheel. The milestone followed months of design, engineering, and preparation, bringing together the work of Genesis Magma Racing’s technical team and chassis partner ORECA. The session focused on checking the mechanical and electrical systems, validating the installation of the engine, hybrid system, and gearbox, and completing the final preparations before the first full test. An extensive testing schedule will run throughout 2025, with data from each session analysed by the team’s engineers to support ongoing development, simulation calibration, and homologation.
