WELCOME TO THE GT REVIVAL 1960s CHAMPIONSHIP

In this series we are going back to the roaring 1960's, when a racing car was 100% operated by the driver.
We are using the GT Revival mod from SSS_Garage. The mod is represented by lightweight cars and heavy muscle cars.
The track choices are made with a balance for lightweight and for muscle cars, where each can find its strength.

There are 11 different cars in this mod, where each car has its own physics and sound.
The GT Revival mod is in essence a League Edition (LE) because SSS_Garage has BOP'd all the cars:

Each car has its own physics but have had Balance of Performance applied via changes in weight, brakes and engine power.
All cars should use the same amount of petrol and therefore have the same size fuel tank.

From testing I can say that this is a quality mod, in physics as well as in car modelling.
Each car already has a decent default setup, so you can hit the track running.

Because these are vintage cars, you have to:
    - clutch or lift your foot when up-shifting.
    - "blip" the throttle on some cars to keep the rear stable.

YOU HAVE TO USE THE SAME CAR THROUGHOUT THE SERIES THAT YOU CHOOSE FOR YOUR FIRST EVENT.

The cars in the mod are:

    Aston Martin DB4
    Austin Healey 3000 MkII
    Bizzarrini 5300GT
    Chevrolet Corvette C2
    Ferrari 250 GT SWB
    Ferrari 250 GTO
    Ford Mustang 289
    Jaguar E-type Lightweight
    Mercedes 300SL Gullwing
    Porsche 904
    Shelby Cobra Hardtop

    Standing start
    How does each race start?

The race starts with a STANDING START.
    There is no formationlap.
At the green light, the race starts.

    ****************************************************************

No Esc. on track rule in Qualification
In qualification, you can not press Escape (Esc.) while on track (if you crash) and then go back out again.
If you want to do another run, you have to come into the pits first.

This is to protect the other drivers from someone taking abnormal risks to set a good lap time and crashing (other cars).

Teamspeak is one of the features of Sim Racing Online.
If you would like to hook up with other drivers on Teamspeak before the race (or any time), here is the forum link for the SRO Teamspeak address and password:

For those who are not familiar with Teamspeak, you need to add the Sim Racing Online channel to your "bookmarks".

    Maximum number of drivers

The maximum field for all 6 events = 32 drivers.

    Hi Riccardo,

You can choose a car without listing it here. The only rule is that you keep the same car for the whole series.

I "think" i've chosen my car.... I may regret it :D

Did you forget to add the 2.4 hours of Le Mans to the calendar? :)

I did test the 67 track, but it felt a little boring with the long straights. Top speed of most cars is ca. 224 km/h. The same with Historic Spa where you almost don't lift.

Indeed, the speeds seem quite close with the different models and difficult to get the maximum (it must go up to over 230km / h in Spa), but also, it is the grip that is too important, as you say, John, the curves pass at full speed or almost!

No, all 5 rF2 servers are occupied. I have to wait for the V8 Supercars series to close.
But the first event is still a bit down the road on April 7th.

Should the risk of engine breakdown or wear be taken into account?

    Hi Cristian,
You have to drive all cars from this mod by lifting your foot on the upshifts and don't over-rev the engine. Like with the real cars. It's the 60's.
I have not blown 1 engine in all my practice. You have to be nice to the car. Like it was for real :)

I always found this a very inspirational video ... It says a lot about how to drive 60s/70s cars and racing cars in general.

    OK, John.
I have no problem with driving these old cars (perhaps I'm even trying to get too close to reality...:D)
I was mainly talking about engine resistance. Some have a limiter, others don't, or even take 8000 revs like the Cobra! (probably not very credible!)
This would add to the realism...(perhaps to suggest to the creator...;))

    Did you find this ?

Yeah, I've read your comments on the Steam Workshop. And it would add more realism.
However, it's up to the dev. to patch the mod if he feels it's necessary. I'm also a little glad that the engine will not blow half-way through the race. If you drive it with care.

ah! well, for now, they are no longer at all!!! :D
It's a shame to have changed, it forces you to drive realistically...
