Welcome to Assetto Corsa RSS GT1 - Season 2

This mod is based on the FIA GT1 championship from the late 90's. The cars have no Traction Control or ABS and the tires are modeled to the level of development from that period. Race Sim Studio has made a very good interpretation with this GT1 car pack and the mod is viewed as one of the very best in Assetto Corsa.

FIA GT1 races at the time were 3 hour long. It wasn't until 2007-2008 that the races dropped from 3 hours long to 2 hours to better cater to a TV broadcast.

All 6 cars have different sounds and balance. They each have their own personallity.

Note: this series will be run on Saturday's starting 19:00 GMT.

    *****************************************************************

The RSS GT1 mod is viewed by the AC community as one of the best mod's around and a must-have.

    Payware

    RSS GT1 is payware € 15,-
Download the car pack here: https://sellfy.com/p/5sVv/

    *****************************************************************

    Mod installation
When you unpack the mod you will see 6 car folders. You need to go inside each car folder and copy the "content" folder inside to the main AC folder. So you have to do that manually for each folder separately 6 x.

Don't paste the complete folders into AC. Go inside and get the content folder for each car.

    *****************************************************************

    The cars
    Tornado v12 (Lister Storm)
    Vortex v10 (Viper)
    Ferruccio 55 v12 (Ferrari 550)
    Lanzo v12 (Lamborghini)
    Shadow v8 (Saleen S7)
    Ferruccio 57 v12 (Ferrari 575)

    Select your car here:
    https://www.simracingonline.co.uk/threads/select-your-car-here.3485/

    ****************************************************************

    Balance Of Preformance (BOP)

The Ferrari 550 and Saleen S7 have an preformance advantage over the other cars, where the Ferrari 550 is the king of the pack.
Therefore they will be given a weight ballast:
    Ferrari 550 = 50 kilo's
    Saleen S7 = 30 kilo's

The top speed of all 6 cars is not far apart. The difference in performance comes from the balance of the Ferrari 550 and Saleen S7.
Although it is track dependant on how big the gap to the other cars is without the extra weight.

    *****************************************************************

    App) Helicorsa_V6

Helicorsa is a app that detects cars close to you, so contact can be avoided.
You must have this app installed and activated to take part in this series.
    Download: https://www.simracingonline.co.uk/resources/helicorsa_v6.442/
    More info: www.youtube.com/watch?v=koCDJJR_EoA

Please have this app installed for this series.

    ****************************************************************

    How does each race start?
All races will have a standing start.
    There is no formation lap

    ****************************************************************

    No-shows
If a driver does not show up for a race without unregistering for that event or letting me know that he can't make it in the event-forum, he will be taken out of the complete series.

(You don't have to unregister for the whole series. You can unregister only for the race you can't do.)

    ****************************************************************

No Esc. on track rule in Qualification
In qualification you can not press Escape (Esc.) while on track (if you crash) and then go back out again.
If you want to do another run, you have to come into the pits first.

This is to protect the other drivers from someone taking abnormal risks to set a good laptime and crashing (other cars).

    ****************************************************************

    Teamspeak
Teamspeak is one of the features of Sim Racing Online.

Really tempted to try this one, although I missed the summer sale for this cars.
Just few questions, as I've been out of AC for years:
    - Joining during qualy is allowed?
    - Are there any mod should be installed ? I mean for weather or pitting, dont't know if the standart game allows pits operation.
    - Anything else I should remenber/know of AC??
(sorry if all this is explained elsewhere...)
    Many thx.

    1. Yes, you can join the server during qual.
    2. There is only 1 app you should install mandatory. You can find it in post 1 of this thread: helicorsa. Nothing else is needed.
    3. You can set the strenght of the FFB in the garage setup menu (where you make your car setup). It's called "various" I think. Default is 100 which is very light.
I have set mine to 45.
Also in the AC main menu, I set the steering rotation to 900 to match with the actual movement of the real steering wheel (Logitech G29).
    4. Make sure that your tires are at the right pressure value's. You can see this in the tire app you can select while on track on the right side of your screen. The 4 bars beside the tire temperature should be green if it's right.

You can watch this video for useful app's.

Maybe other members have also something to add to this.

Yep, the AC tyre model is very basic. Get the pressures right and do not worry about the temperatures.

An interesting comment Larry. Usually the two go hand in hand in determining the correct setting for either, not ignoring other setup options of course.

I agree Ken, normally the two, pressure and temperature, go hand in hand. My comment applies specifically to AC with their simplistic tyre model. It is my experience and from what I have heard and read. I could be wrong of course (would not be the first time ).

So how do you get the pressures right if the temps don't matter? Or are you saying the temps don't matter whatever they are if you use them to get the pressures right? You see what I'm getting at?

I'm using Car Radar instead of Helicorsa. Is that acceptable?

If the desired effect is the same, it's alright.

Uh, oh. I was on the test server just now and am pinging over 200mS today. It seems to be hovering around 212. I have a bad hop going through Seattle which has a 130mS delay to England or worse for Germany. I'm often seeing 150 to 180 but seems slow today for some reason. Will this be a problem?

I don't think so should be ok ping is not excessive.

Other members might add to this.

As long as your car can keep a steady contact with the server (no blinking), it should be alright.
