Hi all Hope you all had a nice Christmas , not sure if I should stick my neck to this hornest nest newbie as I am to RF2 and a new UI and all, but have to try it. See you
Hi. I don't think we can alter the gears on these cars, so we'll be topping out really badly at most tracks.
That's strange. I was driving the car yesterday at Road America and I couldn't change the gearing at all. The car was red-lining on every straight.
Thanks for the info Caitlin. I've raised the question with the guys who did the testing. I assumed the gearing would not be an issue, but maybe it will at the odd track like RA. Possibly they used a higher wing setting i.e. more drag than you?
you are right, the gears are fixed, they cannot be changed. Road America is the fastest circuit, on the other tracks this issue will not take effect often. The good thing is that setups are very close, this will provide tight Racing. We will do a practice Session tomorrow 16 pm cet, everybody can join. Look for ACD Server.
That's a possibility. I'm worried about the oval too, but I haven't tested it so I don't know for sure!
Hi Caitlin! The Oval is no Problem. We took a track, which has the perfect Lengh, we will not be in the rev limiter . It will be a Great Show
But why? The car is screaming for mercy down every straight! Surely we can't race at Road America like this.
The fixed gearing should primarily only affect this track with its three long straights. It's not ideal for sure, but the series is based on using the PM-18 car so it's something we will accept on this occasion. Testing has shown the engine will survive for more than the 25 min long races. A more rigorous pre-series testing regime will be implemented in future.
Alright. With respect, I think I'll skip this one. I might still do the oval round though, but we'll see!
Oh come on Cait! You are one of the best drivers at SRO. To hit the rev-limiter happened in former series too. (i remeber R2P) This car is very demanding and interesting, please give it a chance.
Anyone know what the Pick Up position options are in the customise section for the car is all about? Is it a push to pass type system?
It's to do with the rear suspension Roll Centre, Anti-Dive and Anti-Squat configuration. But of course like many developers these days, they don't bother to explain it in plain English. Some info about it in this document for an F3 Tatuus, so will be similar I expect.
