Yes I agree I didn't get the series created in my normal time frame, so apologies for that, but it does follow on in natural sequence for the Sunday rF2 series we have hosted. I detected some slow build-up of acceleration from low revs, but agree the mod doesn't model what is allegedly the more savage on-off behavior of these early turbo cars. Then again what do you expect from a free mod, perfection?
The cars been updated a number of times over the last week... Is the server updated as i had to redownload to join the server.
Hi, noticed your guys doing a 6 race event with the 935/K3. I'm the guy making the mod, and since its still a WIP project, I would really like to hear your feedback on how it goes. Do notice you have to limit the rpm going above 8200rpm to not decrease enginelife too fast. I did a Road America AI race to test and engine broke down 3 min before the end. At that point the rpmlife was at 7500 (v.0.72.2) but now changed to 8200rpm. (v. 0.72.4) Another thing about turbo lag, I had a hard time introducing this without making unrealistic engine values. Fun fact, in real life turbolag is around 3500 rpm but I have set it around 4500 rpm in the mod. I promise, if I develop some more, I wont update it until after january 5. I'm still not satisfied with tires...
Hi Thomas and welcome to SRO. Thank you very much for taking the time to provide this info on your mod, which we're hoping will be enjoyed by our members. I'll make sure to keep an eye out on future updates which we all appreciate.
The server has now been updated to v0.72.4 of the Porsche 935/K3 mod. Please make sure to update your client version otherwise you will not be able to join the server.
I have a question regarding all the years represented. Do they all perform equally, or will the later-year cars outperform the early-year models? I'm thinking of joining the series, but I want to make sure I pick the right car. So far I really like the mod . These cars are beasts! I assume they don't have any power steering? with a DD wheel, it's a handful but the feel is good! I'm old enough to have driven some older Porsches (all street) & I remember that strong feel in the wheel .. sort of like my older 70's BMW
Mine must have updated as I was able to get in ..& that explains why the setup I was working on did not feel the same ...
After I found your event, I tried to do a test with AI. it was 60 minutes at Road America. It has to be said, I didnt "take care" of rpm's. If you runs into trouble after your first event, I have some options I can introduce, but I also want to keep the car fairly realistic, and that was trying to keep it below 7500 rpm. The options could be add adjustable rpm limit within the setup, or prolong engine lifetime. @Rob Milliken All cars are the same just liveries from different years. No powersteering & I like to have my direct wheel at 9.5 nm (cant remember the output could be lower) and using manual stick gearshift ofcourse.
If you find some setup values which are wayoff unrealistic and completely changes the drivingfeel to unrealistic behavior, I'm also interested in hearing about it. I know it will "ruin" your competitive advances, so will not change or disclosure it while your event is ongoing unless you all agrees on it of course.
