On the server for a few laps this AM. Looking A-OK. I'll be driving the #3 Corvette. Not likely to scare anyone. A best thus far of a 1m19.95s lap.
An interesting track. I did a few hours last night in the Ligier with 35 AI cars. Forgot to remove the LMP2's from the session but otherwise the GTE's and LMP3's are pretty evenly matched which is to be expected. They are pretty even in a straight line and being this is quite a low speed circuit the aero of the LMP3 car can't really kick in properly. I've watched quite a few ELMS races where the GTE's are hassling the LMP3 cars so it seems true to life. Lapping in traffic may be fairly minimal. The only issue with the Ligier is that torque curve, there's not much power for the initial pedal travel and then all hell breaks loose! lol Reasonably happy with the setup I have but I need to work on aero levels I think.
Cant say I have ever driven on the Guangdong circuit before, it looks tricky in the twisty bits at the end of each straight, but Im certainly looking forward to driving the Ferrari, it sounds great in the cockpit.
At SRO we have only had one race on this track before, but it was using the same mod/cars. https://www.simracingonline.co.uk/racing/eventinfo/585
REMINDER This series uses a rolling start which means: 1. A single parade lap is done when the lights go green. Maximum speed for this lap is 120kph. 2. The parade lap is done in single file in qualifying order. Maintain your position through the lap. 3. The race begins when the pole position car exits the final turn, not before or after i.e. you do wait until reaching the start/finish line.
Is anyone else getting the problem where they can't see any cars on track, the server says 'waiting for server' and they can't change out of first gear? I'm getting it. I only ever get it with SRO.
Damn it. Not happy. Did lots of practice for this one but had annoying issues in the race. The first one was my own fault as I’d had an emergency visit to work just before the practice session started and I had to get back home in a hurry. So having run from the town car park and back to the car the heart was really going and I was having trouble calming myself down. Haha. So I was unable to repeat my time on the server, just couldn’t get the head together in time. Anyway so far so good. Start went ok, and I managed to get into second, then about ten minutes in my screen went black for about three or four seconds (on the straight thankfully) and I think RF2 went into windowed mode, so the FPS was pretty poor. From then I was struggling a bit. Decided to let Caitlin go as the car was jittering in my mirrors and I didn’t want an accident. Not sure what it was. Chrome which does has this habit of showing pop-ups so maybe that was it but I didn’t see anything. It could’ve been steam maybe. Then with ten minutes to go I decided to risk it and alt tabbed on the straight. Silky smooth video again and back in the 13’s. Damn, damn, damn. Haha. Oh well I did the whole race with no spins or major mistakes, car was good. I was quick or thereabouts but I should’ve done better so annoying all the same. Well done to the class winners, great job Hopefully I’ll be able to put some more pressure on next time.
I was on medium tires. Just fast enough to hold on to my position. How were the tires in the end for people on soft?
From an LMP3 point of view I did my own race weekend with fairly high temperatures and the tyres just didn’t last. Down to 60% after 20 minutes. Maybe two thirds distance before I had to stop. On the server though I was fine. So softies were probably fine for the gt’s However I was prepared to stop if I needed too.
Softs worked well until the last 15 minutes or so when i started into the last red block on the right front. Really had to nurse that one tire the whole race. Finished with 6.7% wear left. Other's were still over 50%. Which tells me what i need to work on for next time! But the mediums were just too slippery for me.
After Carl went off at the first corner I took on the lead and held it for almost half the race. Joe had been right behind all that time so when he started lunging at me I wasn't expecting it. Fended him off for a while but a big lunge at the end of the straight saw us rub door handles and he was through. From there he pulled away from me. Towards the end Ken and Caitlin came up behind. I positioned my car to the left early on the straight and Ken went by but I guess he missed his braking point as he went straight on. Caitlin took advantage and unfortunately that was the last lap of the race. Bad luck Ken Well done to Caitlin and Joe Well done to all the other podiums
What an incredible race that was! I'm buzzing! Practice: I only got two laps of practice today due to server issues, and was dismayed to discover that cockpit cam was forced, as I'd only ever driven this car in bonnet cam before and I was struggling to work out where my wheels were. Qualifying: Luckily I got the hang of it pretty quickly (Despite a small incident with a GTE. Sorry!) and qualified P2, which I was pleased with. Race: I challenged for the lead at the start, but had a big screen freeze on lap two and bounced off the barriers. I lost a lot of downforce in the accident and I thought my race was over, but somehow I was able to adapt and start clawing back the time. In the final few laps of the race I found myself catching Ken rapidly, so I started pushing like never before. I couldn't believe it when he went wide and I took the lead with two corners to go. I genuinely screamed, just ask my mum. XD What an incredible race that was. I honestly think that was one of the best races I've ever driven and I enjoyed it so much. This is going to be a great season! Thanks for the race @Ken Jagger , congrats on your GTE win @Joe Brown and thank you to everyone for keeping the race so clean and close. Amazing!
