Hello, that will be my first ever race in rf2. Do I need some plugin like helicorsa or something else I have to be aware of before the race?
I didn't had enough time to explore rf2 and how the tyres behave. Will the fronts blow up over the race distance or just go red like in AC?

No additional plugins required Kiril. Tyres can be sensitive to abuse in rF2, especially with FWD cars so don't try and push them too hard. You might need to manage the wear rate as shown on the HUD overlay, but they should last for the 45 mins.

Cant understand your posting Ken. Tyres are extreme hot after 4 laps, after that the loss of grip is tremendous.
I dont think someone will finish without pitting. Some will say tyre-management is the key, but i cant see any sense
in driving the Alfa 45 min like a taxi driver. I am thankful for any hints.

I didn't detect anything different in practice with this car compared to previous experience with FWD in rF2. You can't drive them the same as RWD cars and need to modify your approach/entry/exit technique to cater for the differences.

The key is to be gentle in the turns and avoid heating them, not easy and not sure I can manage them all race or if I will become a taxi driver ;), I'll be prepared for one pit stop just in case.

A setup that helped me was soften the front shocks and harden the rears, making the car less understeer and reduce the heating on the front tyres.

The race pwd has not yet been set. You can find it and the practice pwd on the race page for all our events.

Thanks Ken, Ok.. know I know why I couldn't see it. Do we always use a standard pre race password for practice if the servers up?.

I expected the tires to be a problem, but not the engine. However, I blew it up while the tires were still ok. Probably I shifted down too early for turn 12 to get the apex. Not the smartest idea.

Congrats podium, I will try again next round.

thanks everyone. I think i need more practice to get the best i can from these cars. lots of fun though.:)

I wish i had got a better start, then at least i could have chased the pack for a while. sadly spent the whole race at the back on my lonesome :)
    better luck next time. ;)

Although I had a good race personally, I don't normally get on with FWD cars, so maybe I'm getting better with more exposure to them, who knows . They aren't the easiest to get to grips with Paul and it's not all about setup either. As I mentioned above, they require a slightly different technique to run a decent pace and not kill the front tyres too soon. Braking is best done in a straight line and progressive application of throttle is needed on the exit to avoid power-on oversteer.

Good race! Started well and managed to keep up with the leading chaps but overcooked the tyres. With only 15 minutes or so left I was down to about 25% left on the front left and it got to the point where I couldn't turn. With everyone catching me at a rate of knots, I decided to go with a tyre change just so I could stay on the track and finish but found I was catching folks back again quite quickly. Finished just behind Ed, shame I ran out of laps.

    Well done podium and finishers!

I see in the latest Release Candidate for rF2 that it contains this statement which if it works like in AC, may prevent that happening.

    "Added configurable gear shift protection"
