This track needs no introduction to most motorsport enthusiasts.
When you download this track, you will see that it's 72 kilometres long and it will be a challenge to make it to the finish in 1 piece.
The track is however also available in individual sectors that you can practice piece by piece, if you so desire.
The main thing to remember is to keep a steady flow and to not take big risks, but to do the track in a relaxed mode that will get you to the finish.
If you do one lap a day and build up slow, you will have the track in your pocket in no time.

Tip: if you see a black and white striped guardrail or road sign in the distance, that means "tight or slow corner" first or second gear.

The Targa Florio has no warmup lap. The timer starts the first time you go over the start line.

 

This is a cool idea. I hope it works out. It could lead to another category of racing at SRO if there are good rally cars and a variety of stages for a first rally car championship.

It's a closed loop. When you download the track you will see that it also has additional separate parts of the track that you can practice individually.
You can TT on it or do a race with other cars.
Because of the length of the track, the timer starts the first time you cross the start line.
All the above also goes for the track Isle of Man, round 3
The Mini 1961 is absolutely suited for this track.

 

Are there really only 4 guys in the whole of SRO who are brave enough to do a little Time Trail of 72 kilometers?!
Where are the heroes?!

 

Just a thought Phil, have you tried uninstalling any 3rd party plugins you may use? I suspect I get issues with TinyPedal for one? They may not cause issues offline but possibly can online.

I've done the complete track a few times now and I've never gone through without mistakes and losing time.
But it's a blast every time LOL!
You can sort of guess what corner is coming up most of the time, so if you keep it cool it's no problem.
