Registration The Honda-owned race course at Suzuka has emerged as one of the world's most demanding and rewarding motor racing circuits, packing a mix of almost every type of corner into a remarkably small space. Drivers rate it highly, mainly because it is one of the few circuits these days which still has challenges to throw at them. It has also gained world recognition because of its unusual figure-of-eight layout, which has spawned countless Scalextric imitations!
I’m not the only one then, I’ve tried for a week to like this track as never race it. So Saturday will be a fight with my self to make no mistakes and try complete 75 minutes we can only try do our best I suppose
Am opposite wing of you, I like the track. It is quite technical and enjoy with quick sweeps and lively break areas. ; )
Looks like an infux of quick Italians again from the VDA boys...Plus Jeff turning up.. Looks like the front of the field is going to be a bit fuller... I'll be back in mid-field! I'm just not consistent around here.. One lap i can be quick the next i'll fall off!
So my internet cut out and I'm at the mercy of the ISP getting things sorted. Doesn't look like I'll make it but maybe it will be back on in an hour.
What a complete waste of time that was and any preparation i did. I know you want unpredictability but that was silly. Did every one just load the default wet setups? I tried just softening up my dry setup a bit, and after the ginetta's dropped the tyre pressures a bit and fitted wets. Well, my times were easily 10secs slower than everyone i started near...as they came to lap me... Just gave up after the umptenth spin as i lose the rear. Tyres were barely 21psi no grip at all. I was happy with my qually time as well. Think i'll stick to random multiplayers.
Congrats Max, good driving Ruskus, Simon sorry for the rub that was unfortunate but I wasn't going to lift there I was well inside. When the race started I was sure that it would stop raining early or right at the mid mark, but as it reached 45min it seemed like it will just keep raining and I had to pit as I was out of fuel and took on another set of wets, big mistake that was...had to put again after the wets melted. Next time if its raining at the start, take a full tank and pit for tyres when needed! and now I learned that you can see the weather ...ffs
Apparently in the pits there is a weather prediction, tells you what will be happening over the next while.
I used my dry setup, turned TC up to 5/6, same for ABS, stuck a set of wets on and guessed the pressures, but generally you want to add a little over dry tyre pressure, and the wetter it is the more you add...
I used the standard wet setup and I thought my pace was fine - until I got punted After that I think I had slight aero damage in the front and couldnt keep up with the cars in front of me - ended up where I normally end when I do not have too much practice on a track - in the back of the field Anyway a wet quali would have been interesting too!
I thought that was bloody brilliant last night, really enjoyed it and the race felt like a proper un predictable endurance race I was convinced I would end up missing the race last night, I hadn’t had time for a single lap of practise and was still in my garden enjoying a bbq 15mins before qually! But wife said she had something to do so thought okay I’ll jump in qually and see how competitive I can be. Kept it in the top 10 the whole sesh so was good to race Then it started raining I kept my dry setup, put wet tyres on and ramped up TC and ABS. Was a bit tippy toe first few laps but still seemed quicker than a few who just went backwards, were they on dry tyres? Only 2 cars got past me, Sander and Simon but I also got past a few cars until I was 6th Enjoyed a great chase/battle with Simon for about half an hour in the wet, we appeared to be quicker at different parts of the track so was good fun. Late on I ran a bit wide at Degna 2 and lost about 3 secs and had another moment at the hairpin losing another 2-3 secs gifting Simon a 6sec lead but otherwise didn’t put a tyre wrong the whole race. As the track dried I tried an undercut on Simon for new dry tyres but it was probably 1 or two laps early as my tyres couldn’t get any heat for several laps when he made his own stop. He rejoined 6 secs ahead so I had hoped to close him down, but he steadily increased the gap to race end and I was happy to bring it home 6th Loved it my arms ached at the end from so much effort! Great pace up front, didn’t get a sniff of top 4 the whole race. Don’t know how the heck Biasso? Got a set of dead wets to the end?! Otherwise would have been 5th
That was crazy .. Just imagine how the real drivers feel when these things happen .. hah I had the strangest thing happen, as soon as it went green my shifter stopped working? I was stuck in 1st gear and it would not shift I tried everything, mashing the keyboard changing views, I did the whole first racing lap in about 4 min on the rev limiter then as I was pulling into the pits to park it I tried hitting the spacebar & it shifted & then the paddles started working again .. Now I was a min+ behind the back of the field & just had a nice drive in the rain ..lol
