Drivers, for this event I will be doing a live "Test broadcast" on the SRO YouTube channel! This will be my first attempt at broadcasting with the PC2 broadcast tools so that's why it's simply a 'Test broadcast'. I will be exploring & experimenting with the tools and cameras so please bear with me and I apologize in advance for mis-pronouncing all your names .. Consider it to be a work in progress & if all goes well, I plan on broadcasting the remainder of the series!
Sorry guys but we just could not get the PC2 broadcast option to activate .. We will be investigating the issues & try again next event! GLA!
Well that was a really hard and close race, Chris was fast and our times were cat and mouse through practice and quali , Chris took the rightful pole and I just couldn't get that last little bit. My start to the race was slightly better than Chris but i braked a little bit too early in too turn one, which gave Chris the chance to get past and take the lead, then it was a case of putting pressure on for the first load of laps hoping he would make a mistake because Sugo is a such a hard track to overtake on with cars of similar pace. Fair play to Chris he made no mistakes so I sat behind him for a most of the race and tried to save my tyres and look for any way I could get past, I felt I had slightly faster race pace so with just about 15 mins to go I really ramped up the pressure especially with lapped cars coming up, so i decided the only place I could do it was out of the last corner, hard throttle, no slip from the tyres and then get a run up the hill, your either going to spin,or off track, but the tyres held on line and left me on Chris bumper for the run in to T1, late brake and get the manoeuvre done. Fantastic drive by Chris, congrats to Viktor on another podium and thx to all for a good fair racing and Ken for all the effort
Yep, no complaints from me. A deserved win for Julian, got the tow down the home straight and I decided discretion was the better part of valour and didn’t defend too robustly into turn 1. I was a little off line which compromised my exit a little and let Julian pull a gap, but ithe finish times don’t really portray how close we really were, as I got tagged by one of the back markers going into the uphill chicane almost taking me off! That created a comfort zone for Julian and with the time remaining it wasn’t sensible to push hard to close the gap, so consolidation of second was the plan from then. The first half hour was great racing with Julian, I think we both had advantages in different places on the track, but I was focussed on consistency rather than my rear view mirror. The changes I made since the last race have made a huge difference to the handling and the ability to “balance” the car on the throttle. It’s an absolute blast to drive now. Congrats to Julian on another win, and thanks for a great race. Grats to Viktor for another podium, and as always, thanks to @Ken Jagger for hosting another great series. Thanks to all on track for the clean and mature racing.
I forgot to save the replay for this race, would anyone have the replay .med i could download. thanks. Sorry you couldn't get the broadcast option working Rob, hope you manage to get it sorted , I think it would be good
The race page has been updated with a replay DL link, or you can get it from the SRO Downloads/PC2 section. https://simracingonline.co.uk/racing/eventinfo/1761
It's funny how @Julian Smith and @Chris Belfield's battle unfolded, it was almost exactly the same between me and @Gerhard Hofmann . I started from 3rd, but he managed to overtake me in the first corner. From then on I was chasing him down and putting pressure on him for quite some time. There were a couple of corners where he was a couple of tenths slower so I was able to focus on those to get a bit closer to him every lap. Finally when I caught him I was able to get the overtake done and create a slight gap between us. From then on it was all about keeping the car on the road and bringing it home. I honestly haven't expected the race to go this well as I was a bit sick, but I'm really satisfied with the result. Great stuff from the top 2 and Gerhard as well!
