I'll be away for this race so please make sure to start it on time with the in-game user voting. Enjoy the race .
I got a question on the server/race. I was just on the server & started the race, track was wet and 16deg. Then restarted the race it was dry and 16 deg. Is this ambiguity part of the series parameters? I’m on a lower level of rac’in and would like to have prior info on track conditions or is this something that could change at any time? Rac’in in the rain is a lot different than on a heavy rubber track. Thanks.
It should be dry. probably who started the server forgot to tick off weather. I hope they look into it
Well that was fun. We should do more wet weather racing. Had a poor qualy only getting 6th when I was expecting to fight for pole but that's how the weather can mix a grid up. Got a good start and my opening few laps saw me climb up the grid. When the rain came I saw a few go into the pits but I still had fairly good grip so I continued on with my dry tyres. Cranked up the traction control to the max and it remained driveable. When the rain stopped I was relieved to see a dry line forming a few laps later and my lap times began falling again so it was the right decision. I was right behind Joe and spent the rest of the race trying to get by. He was faster than me through the first half of the lap and I closed the gap back up in the second half through the slower sections. It was obvious to me he had less downforce as he was much faster down the straight. I did get ahead once but blew it in the braking zone into T1. That was my one and only chance. If I'd got ahead I think I could have pulled away but it would have been difficult but when I fell behind due to a spin I closed the 2 second gap to him within a few laps so I had the pace. Well held Joe under a lot of pressure from me. Nice driving Well done Sam for the P3 win More bad weather please.
Well, according to the posted race format, this race should be thrown out. I think it was a big joke by Ken. Then he ran off so he wouldn't take the heat.
The settings were wrong so I don't mind redoing it but I think they should count imo. We all had to race under the same conditions. It was great fun though and as I say lets use the weather system more please
We apologize for the weather mix up. These things happen sometimes. And it was not a joke by Ken. He has been out of the country for several weeks now. Ken works hard for our members and takes the job seriously. Thank you Paul. I think a lot of our members share that enthusiasm and would enjoy more events with random weather.
Qualifying: Terrible. I gambled on slicks and it didn't work, and several GTEs spun in front of me every time I tried to set a lap. Race: As we came to the start line, a certain driver who I won't name started to drop back behind the leaders. Not wanting to pass him and get a penalty, I stayed behind him, but flashed my lights to ask him to hurry up. We coasted around the final corner, with the rest of the LMP3s already long gone, and then accellerated on the exit. When we were a quarter of the way down the straight, he suddenly slammed on the brakes and I had nowhere to go but into the back of him, causing me to spin to the back of the GTE field. I was furious, and it became even worse when I overtook him later on and he drove right into the side of me, spinning us both! If you're reading this, you know who you are. You owe me an apology. I'm just glad to have recovered to P2 after all of that. My tyres were absolutely shot at the end of the race. Thanks to @Riccardo Alitta for the close fight for second place, and well done to @Sam Butters and @Joe Brown for your class wins. Also, I didn't mind the weather at all. After all, we were all in the same boat (Quite literally at times!) so there really is no reason to throw the results out or even complain for that matter. These things happen. Next time I want to finally beat Sam Butters on the road. I've had so much bad luck this season (A screen freeze at Ordos, that disconnection at Zhuhai, this incident and poor qualifying, etc.) that our only real fair fight so far has been Sochi, which Sam won. Next time, I want to take the fight to him to prove that I deserve this championship. Bring on Sentul!
I'm OK with random weather, but that is not what the league description sayes, no way around that. If your going to have rules you must run by them, otherwise just do what ever .
Apologies for not making many of these. A little too much disruption at home at the moment was making it difficult to practice or attend. Nothing bad just redecorating going on, work chaos with COVID-19, etc. However I'm hoping to make the final round. Would be a shame to use the custom livery just the once. Hopefully these cars will return at some point. Fuji sounds like it was fun! Well it's Fuji it always rains
