I would just like to say that I think this will be my last PC2 race, the next one at Spa, a track that I really do enjoy unfortunately I will be on holiday ,so I wont be able to join. It does sadden me that as hard as I've and others tried to promote PC2 there seems to be a lack of interest in this sim but those who have participated have been great to race with and I thank everyone. I also feel that I am a bit of a one trick pony with PC2 ,and racing with Roman who was very much at the same pace was good fun, however he seems to have left so I think I need to explore other races where there are many other drivers in the sims that are so much better than me. I need to broaden my horizons and learn other sims. Unfortunately with the time I have available that is once a fortnight so something has to give. To @Gerhard Hofmann who got me here and Ken for supporting a sim I enjoy very much, many thanks and everyone in the sim. I really do hope it continues and will hopefully gain interest and I will be back or pop in for a race or two. Thanks to all
May I also say if guys from other sims see this, If PC2 was fixed setup , would that tempt you to join for an arrive and drive race, so no time needed on setups, or suggest what would make you think of joining. we need more drivers, so the easier to join and have some fun the better.
If you like PC2 that much you might want to try AMS2 as an alt sim, It has a larger player base and is basically the PC2 madness Engin taken to the next level, and it's supported and growing with constant updates and improvements on the original SMS engin .. (including MP) I'm in the Reiza beta test group and things are constantly improving to the point we will see a new series here at SRO soon!
Sorry for my early departure from the race last night guys, but something weird happened to my car regarding the setup between Practice & Qualifying/Race which made it too difficult to continue. For some reason in the race the car felt completely different to Practice. It took a while for me to try and work out what was happening and eventually I spotted the tyre pressures particularly the rears were way out from my setup settings e.g. in P the rears were 1.42/1.43 bar and in the race they showed 2.00-2.02 so essentially the rear of the car was way too hard, causing the wild handling imbalance. The only thing I looked at before the race was the pitstop settings, should they have been needed I didn't want something happening I hadn't intended. I need to look at what the default tyre pressures are set to in that pit-stop strategy and see if that changed things. All very odd!
Julian suggested fixed setup. This can be an option in PC2 by the race director so that all cars are equal. Opinions?
Generally I don't have an issue with fixed setups as long as they suit the tracks being used e.g. the gearing is able to cope with short and long tracks. But this DRM mod would've been extremely difficult to drive without the ability to change some setup options. This can be an issue with some of the default setups in various mods which are TBH pretty Naff! One mans nectar is another mans poison as they say
I agree Ken but racing with equal setups ( crap, wooly and sh*t ). This would keep the pack closer and let drivers concentrate more on braking, positioning, cornering and driving lines to gain an advantage rather than having the best setup to gain the advantage. Having equal cars I think would attract more racers to compete to show their skills and knowledge of racing lines etc.
I agree with Brian and Ken, My only suggestion with fixed set up was it might help get drivers in ,who can just turn up and drive without worrying about setting the car up to be optimum around a track. and join in-between their practicing and setting up for RF2 and ACC races and might also get attracted to driving in it. then if it worked with more drivers then go back to setups., I really don't know. Most of us know, most of the tracks , so all of us would be on an even footing which might help get some much needed drivers in to PC2 for fun, I might be completely wrong and still no drivers join, just looking for avenues so PC2 does not die on SRO. That was the only one I came up with. like I say, it might make no difference and PC2 dies, Brian explained it well. Rob also said about AMS2 which I haven't really used but based around PC2 but better, and I would be more than happy to join that series if It gets hosted by SRO.
