The race track Autopolis, located in Japan, is one of the best tracks for variety of corners and corner combinations.
It has a very nice flow to it and will keep you on the edge of your (racing) seat for 90 minutes. It's a challenging track to put it mildly. You will have to put in the practise to be consistent and fast here. Having said that, it's one of my favourite tracks.

    Notes:
There are no start lights. You will have to watch the clock that starts the formation lap in your HUD.

My Norma, lmp3, setup for the race: https://1drv.ms/u/s!AoKn8o5RQfgvkwv2KuTCsjHJtvHU

Its work in process and not perfect. High downforce setup so need to select that from tuning.
Gentle with gas. Lift off slowly and press slowly to minimize the weight transfer in the entry
and wheelspin/spin in the exit. Need to be smooth for good laptime. Dont force the car.
Suspensions and damps little off, maybe arbs too. Track is very demanding on its surface, but
for the race i got even tyrewear so in the long run its good i guess.

    Hope it helps anyone.

Well I managed to find some spare time and ran about 50 laps last night in the Oreca.

Found a good setup but I may tweak it some more. Just for fun I ran a practice session with the P2 cars from the S397, Enduracer and URD mods and they were actually pretty even which surprised me. Quite cool to have a 22 P2 field.

Found some useful information and I’m competitive at 103% difficulty but that means nothing against some of you guys. Lol :)

Spent about half an hour tweaking the game. I know this sounds like an excuse but I’ve been having terrible stutter and screen tearing with a lot of races on RF2 recently so just spent some time getting a good performance balance. Makes a huge difference of course when the images flow smoothly, obvious I know but I was getting a bit fed up with frame drops all the time and stuttering through corners. So much happier on that front as well.

Its very important @Andrew Harper .
I have had graphics issues all my my life and in rf2..if you lag or whatever, you automatically lose some tenths in your lap time.

Yeah I had to do something. I don’t have many issues with racing sims but I think with the physics and some of the poor optimization of mods and cars that RF2 has it can wreck havoc on even a newish pc. I see this track is a Patrick conversation from AMS and all his tracks are superb. So just turned down some of the details until I could get a solid 60 FPS with 15-20 cars.

I had terrible frame stutter into brake zones and into the apexes for a lot of tracks so I’m thankful that I’ve managed to improve it.

Interesting comment about the lag issues. I do sometimes find myself a second or more slower online compared to when I do practice on a grippy track and it annoyed the hell out of me. Lol :)

Adjust the settings so that you get stable target fps at night with 20 cars in the rain, so you shouldn't have problems later. Also remember to adjust rF2 internet settings.

I will try. Rain is a bit of a problem with RF2 and my PC. Annoying in a way as I can run PC2 on max or high and in heavy rain it’s truly terrifying. As it should be I suppose. Haha.

Again it seems to be track dependent. I can be fine on some but can’t even get 10 FPS on others.

However I’ve found ACC is pretty tough on my PC in the wet. Which is no great surprise as the Unreal Engine requires quite a beefy setup anyway.

Otherwise at the moment all is good. I’ll look into the internet settings as well. Thanks for the tip matey.

Looking forward to the race later, not too bothered if I finished last in class at least I won’t have to spend 45 minutes just getting everything working properly and I’ve managed some laps beforehand this time.

Not sure to make it tonight, my stWheel stand has just broken today. I've made a fast repair but I'm not sure it's good enough for the race, so don't be surprised if all of a sudden i disappear from server.

Grats Michal on the win and Carl on the Championship.

This race was tough on his own. If it wasn't enough, I did a pretty silly mistake on pitstop and forgot to dial back the fuel, took way too much, finish the race with like 40L left.
Still had a chance at the end of the race but I was just dead on pace and way too tired, another intense race. Very nice pressure from Carl, I had very little chance at this point.
A shame would have been another tight one... till next.

    Good race.
End part of it my competition was out so was just trying to stay clear of gte cars that were fighting seriously on positions.

Well I can’t be unhappy. My pace was good and I only made one bad mistake during the race at the slow turn five when I slid wide onto the grass but no spin and I just lost about ten seconds.

My biggest cock up was at the start. I got distracted by Pablo asking about the grid lineup and then realized the clock was at zero. Bugger! Lol. Not his fault I just didn’t know what was going on.

So I just exited via the pit lane. Wasn’t sure if I could take my grid place so just sat at the back and worked my way through the field as the race went green.

Car felt good, pace was good and strategy worked well. I could hang onto the leaders but just couldn’t make enough time on them. So maybe I could have snatched 2nd at a push without my mistake at the start but it would have been fun trying.

Had some fun with Pablo as I had to let him lap me, so I just tried to stay on his tail. Looked like he had tyre issues maybe but it was fun putting him under some pressure. Sorry Pablo :)

So well done to everyone who finished, and a big thanks to the slower classes. I had zero issues in traffic and for me a race I can be happy with.

There’s another league with the p2’s coming up so I’ll keep practicing and hoping to get better for the new season.

    Thank you, Kahel

A fierce fight in the championships, often at a high level
    except my spins ;)
A surprising victory at the end :D
I kept my fingers crossed for Barrett until the end and managed it. Thanks Mr. Erickson :)
promotion in the general classification on P2
    Congratulations Carl for the championship

Never driven this track before, and it didn't go well in practice.
    Mediums had no front grip
Softs wore out the rears before half race.

So I decided to 2 stop (only one to do so) knowing it wouldn't be as fast, but I'd have more fun.

Turned out ok, finished where I would have probably finished if I 1 stopped and struggled with the tyres.

Sorry to Carl who I thumped up the rear early in the race, totally missed my braking point.

Congrats to all winners and champions

Well done to Jens for helping Redline Racing 2.0 take the GTE team championship :D

Thanks John and SRO for running the championship.

    [Great broadcast guys!]

Was struggling throughout the day with under-steer that hadn't been there the day before. Still, times were OK so i just needed to try to cope by adjusting my driving to the tires as they wore.

Pit early thinking i could run a bit faster out of the contest for position, but that didn't prove to be the case.

Watching the broadcast replay, i see my biggest mistake of the race (aside from the early contact with Jens - sorry again, Jens) was not keeping track of pitstops and standings. I thought Carl had already stopped when i last looked and didn't realize that i'd actually moved ahead of him a few laps later. In the final laps I was only focused on Kahel's times thru the ebb and flow of traffic, thinking i was good if i maintained a sufficient gap to him.

Meanwhile, i didn't see Carl coming on.

By the time i realized Carl was coming on, when he passed Kahel, it was just too late. I'd used up too much tire to sufficiently up my pace. I defended for a bit, but when he gained significantly on me in spots i thought i had an advantage earlier in the race (contrary to the commentary :), i knew it was inevitable. And so it was. I gave it up.

    Lesson learned:
Make sure your "standings" screen always shows the 2nd one front and back.

Happily for me, i didn't have a clue the effect this was having on the series championship and had total confidence in the drivers i was sharing the track with! It was just a matter of fun racing for me.

And fun i had. Thanks to all i was near.

Grats Dionysis, Toni, Michal. And Carl for the class.

Setup screwed up by changing car just before the race. The car was understeering a lot and at bare minimum half a second slower than in practice. Wrong set of tyres and no way to change them.

Apologies John, maybe you thought you were lapping me but we were fighting for position at that point. Absolutely sorry it impacted your race so much.

Great coverage lady and guys, as always I must say, it was great to follow GTs battle for race and championship. Really impressed to see how GT guys are racing so close to each other.

What happened near the end @Eric Moinet ?

I let you past at end of main straight as there was no point challenging for position, and a few corners later you pulled over and let me back past. I was confused

I downshifted instead of up shift which put me to a halt. Luckily enough I didn't blow up the engine.
