I think I maybe used the wrong start procedure for a couple of previous races in this series, by using standing when it should have been rolling. The series setting is for a single file rolling start controlled by the pole position car when exiting the final turn at the end of lap 1. We will be using this start procedure for this final race.
It seems that I somehow won the championship, ok probably not that surprised as I won the last three races in a row. Most likely my longest winning succession, first win since June 2019 and the second series I won (first one where I had some amount of race as the second-placed driver). Interesting stats, states that the last three years were not that good for me Today's race was quite ok, but I think other than Laguna I won it because of the pole position. Csaba seemed a bit faster than me overall, especially in the first turn. But he lacked in top speed. But he was like a shadow waiting for his chance. Funny anecdote, after he lost his car the win seemed safe. But without his pressure, I made an unforced error and spun out at the last turn. He definitely would have deserved the win but it was not necessary to bring him back into contention. Maybe the reason why I rarely win something, I have not the best nerves. Thanks for hosting and running @Ken Jagger. Thanks for running @Michael LaBelle @Csaba Lako @Jens Roos , it was fun to race with you. Somehow I got to grips with this car as soon as @Scott Ring dropped out, so maybe I have to thank him, but in reality, I missed him along with some other familiar drivers I hope for some more drivers in the next automobilista series, regardless if it is the last one or not.
Sorry for missing the final round, it was not my intention. Congratulations to @Philipp Pichler to win the championship, like I a bit to early estimated in the last race As always thanks to @Ken Jagger and all the drivers who joined. AMS never seems to attracted lots of driver (it should) and cross my finger for bit more drivers in the next series. The successor is getting better, but IMO it still needs tweaks both here and there before I'm interested to commit to an series using AMS2.
Congratulations on the championship Phillipe. The highs and lows of sim racing are at times unfathomable. But it is good to find a groove after a few hard series. My first race at Miami Bay convinced me this would be a fun series. For this race I had 2 setups one for qly and one for racing. I am not sure why I adjusted the fuel and used my race setup to qualify and the other to race. The race set understeered at the hairpin and I was losing a second + each time. It worked everywhere else. The podium was due to Ken’s off track adventures. Thanks Ken for 3rd and the series I note Casaba stated it is a poor sim. In ways yes but I think it has better FFB than AC just missing the mod input. I would race this mod again if another series comes along. Cheers
I'm not sure that Csaba meant the "poor sim" literally, but I stand to be corrected. For some unfathomable reason the balance of may car felt totally different to that in P/Q . After only a few laps the rear of the car felt so loose, even in the slow speed turns, that I lost all confidence in it's balance. It was something that didn't show in practice, but reared it's head after 3-4 laps in Qual. It was really odd as I never had any issues in practice. I ended up in the race running laps 1-2 secs slower than practice because of it. Post race I checked the setup and it all seemed normal so I'm not sure what happened. Very mystifying . Grats to Philipp on a strong 2nd half series run to seize the Drivers Championship from my grasp in the final 2 races.
