The Red Bull Ring is a motorsport race track in Spielberg, Styria, Austria.

The race circuit was founded as Österreichring and hosted the Austrian Grand Prix for 18 consecutive years, from 1970 to 1987. It was later shortened, rebuilt and renamed the A1-Ring (A Eins-Ring), and it hosted the Austrian Grand Prix again from 1997 to 2003. When Formula One outgrew the circuit, a plan was drawn up to extend the layout. Parts of the circuit, including the pits and main grandstand, were demolished, but construction work was stopped and the circuit remained unusable for several years before it was purchased by Red Bull's Dietrich Mateschitz and rebuilt. Renamed the Red Bull Ring the track was reopened on 15 May 2011 and subsequently hosted a round of the 2011 DTM season and a round of the 2011 F2 championship. Formula One returned to the circuit in the 2014 season.

    Hello chaps,
I tried to download the track today, but the file has an extension .rfcmp. I tried to open the file with 7zip and Winrar, but once I try to extract the file I get the message that the file is damaged, so I guess I won't be able to join the race, unless someone of you had the same issue and a solution to solve it :(

Put that file in to rfactor2/package folder, and then open rfactor2 -> package -> find that track - > press install

That didn´t work for me either, but in such cases @Matteo Santini just try to join the server.

What do you mean 'That didn't work' ?

What Henri wrote is the only way to install this track into rF2

Put the .rfcmp file in the packages folder
    Start up rF2
On the launcher, select the packages icon (icon that looks like a box)
Find the track in the list and click it
    Click Install at the bottom

I tried to follow your instructions guys, but the procedure doesn't work for me.
I put the zip file into the "package" folder, started rF2, selected the packages icon and even refreshed the inventory list, but the track does not appear in that list.

If I try to extract the file after opening it with WinRar, it says that the file is damaged, so the unzipped file is impossible to be extracted inside the package folder.
Don't know what to think, apart that the rF2 creators invented the most perverted way to play this game. Good to play, but really user UNfriendly.
    I will miss this round.
Thanks anyway for your help Henri and Andrew :)

File is a simple .zip file, that will open with both winrar and 7zip

If you get errors, then your download failed. Simply delete the file and download it again.

I have just this second downloaded it and unzipped it (with winrar) without issue.

Don't now what to think, but I tried to download it again now, and when unzipping the file I received again the message that says the file is damaged. I appreciate your effort Andrew, but I guess it's better to play some analogic 'instruments', like my guitar, when the technology revolts against you.
This kind of Medieval content manager, makes me regret the old but solid JSGME mod manager for GTR2 :)

    Have fun chaps

I'll upload the file to dropbox, and give you a direct download link once done (to the .rfcmp file rather than the zipped file)

Big file, so going to take 10 minutes to upload.

I re-downloaded the file, it should be 286mb (299 981 894 byte), it should open with built in zip handler in windows or tool of choice.
Then extract rfcmp to packages folder, locate "Spielberg Historic" in package handler and click install
(make sure your package folder is correct as well, under install button)

You can't just turn into the apex when there is a car beside you

Another race ruined at T1 and practice time wasted.

Spun after someone decided to try a dive bomb at T1. I knew it was better to play guitar this evening ;)

I didn't even seen you Andrew. I don't understand how to set virtual mirrors inside the game, and I was drivng without any mirror. The difference with AC is that you don't ear the engine of the other cars even when they're side by side. Immersion in rF2 = 0. I guess this game is not for me. Sorry to have spoiled your race. It was better if I didn't solve the issue with the track.
