Suzuka International Racing Course Soichiro Honda decided to develop a new permanent circuit in Mie prefecture in the late 1950s. Designed as a Honda test track in 1962 by Dutchman John "Hans" Hugenholtz, Suzuka is one of few circuits in the world to have a "figure eight" layout, with the 1.2 km back straight passing over the front section by means of an overpass. The circuit has been modified four times: In 1983 a chicane was put at the last curve to slow the cars into the pit straight and the Degner curve was made into two corners instead of one long curve; the circuit was also made considerably safer by adding more crash barriers, more run-off areas and removing straw bales leading into vegetation; In 2002, the chicane was slightly modified, 130R (marked as 15 on the diagram) was also modified and some of the snake curves were made a bit straighter and faster; In 2003, the chicane was made slightly faster and closer to the 130R.[7] Following the death of Daijiro Kato at the 2003 Japanese motorcycle Grand Prix, Suzuka reconfigured the motorcycle variant of what is now known as the Hitachi Automotive Systems Chicane before the final turn, and added a second chicane, between the hairpin and 200R.[8] The circuit can be used in five configurations; the car full circuit, the motorcycle full circuit, the "Suzuka east," "Suzuka west car," and "Suzuka west motorcycle" configurations. The "east" portion of the course consists of the pit straight to the first half of the Dunlop curve (turn seven), before leading back to the pit straight via a tight right-hander. The "west" course is made up of the other part of the full circuit, including the crossover bridge; the straight leading to the overpass is used for the start/finish line and the grid. The chicane between the hairpin and 200R separates the west and full course sections between cars and motorcycles.
I've just scheduled the broadcast! As I did last time, I'll join 15 minutes prior to qualifying, to give time for the season recap and driver introductions. I've run some test races with the AI representing the entire championship field and my PC seems to have no problem keeping up; I just hope we don't have the same audio sync problems we did last time. I've had a few streams on my channel since then without issue, so we'll see. And here's a title card for the front page. Looking forward to another great race!
Unfortunately I won't be able to participate this time, have fun and good luck Hopefully I'll be available for the season finale
I haven't decided. Since the Viper has been left open for broadcasters I've been trying that, and it's pretty tough to handle, but not bad. The Ferraris and Lamborghini are most appealing to me in the looks department, but I don't know about driving them. Anything I can get around the track three times in a row without binning it would be a miracle.
sorry guys, one less slow driver at the end of the pack. going to sign out cause cant make it this evening :-( have fun
Aww, come on guys, at this rate it'll be worth my time to jump in the car and try to earn some points! That darn real life, getting in the way of what's important...
I was little off pace compared to practice times and specially in Q but its allways different than offline. Struggled to get it going at start with full tank of fuel + ballast but eventually got it going and caught Andrew. Then to chikane and lagged and dont know who but was really gutted. Nevertheless decided to just push push push while keeping it smooth for tyres.
Well Done for the deserved win! I guess I lost this race at the pit stop. For some weird reason, I load 16 Liters more that I was supposed to. So I lost 6 seconds and because of the extra weight, I spoiled the tires before time and I was generally slower during the whole stint.
O M G WHAT A RACE Thanks to everyone who joined; the chase was exciting to watch, but those last few minutes were incredible. Congratulations to Toni for the hard-fought win and for flipping the two-point lead in the championship in his favor. Click me for the full race replay on Pasha's Google Drive. And here, have some screenshots. And finally, for Andrew Williams... There just aren't enough Internet hugs to make up for what happened, but today it's your turn to get one anyway. It all comes down to the final round!
I was braking in a straight line, and everything froze. I kept the wheel straight 'knowing' that if I was still in game, I would cruise into the wall on the left. Just watching the stream, and no clue how my car shot across the chicane in front of you as I certainly didn't turn that way. My apologies for causing you to crash.
Just finished watching the stream from Pasha, Firstly, thanks for the kind words throughout. Makes rejoining after the D/C and pushing that Yellow Ferrari hard worth while Superb broadcast with only 8 cars starting and 6 cars running for the majority of the race. I expected to see no action on the stream, but you found action throughout the 90 minutes. Great your knowledge of AC, knowing that I D/C at final corner, so I lost that full lap when rejoining, whereas if I did D/C at T1, I would have still been on the lead lap. (Shame where it happened but it happens) Finally, surely everybody finds Pashas laugh infectious?
