That was a great grid for tonight, well done to everyone for making the effort. I'd only managed 5 minutes of practice before the event. Just snowed under with work and skin requests from people. Just a bit crazy at the moment. Decided to at least make the effort to show up. Not sure what happened in qualifying. I was watching the mirrors and also the position marker. Next thing I know a car is on top of me! Sorry to whoever that was. I can only guess it was a connection glitch because there was no one around me beforehand. My connection seemed perfectly fine. First few laps went ok and I tried to settle into a rhythm. Passed a few of you that had issues on the first few laps. I then ran wide at one corner and the car got almost beached. I backed off but the car swerved left and I collected a few cars. So sorry about that but I had no control at all. Went to the pits but the crew wouldn't repair the damage so my guess is that it was too badly beaten up. Thanks for sharing the setup BTW. Very kind. Hoping for better luck next time.
Started to have some fun when I got in to a rhythm and got use to the default setup that worked well in the end, Managed to gain a few places at the end with other drivers mishaps, Thought I was going to hold on to 6th but tyres were shot so John vdg came past overall happy with p7. Grats on the win Mark
Thanks Nigel. Fun race. Sorry Ricardo, I took your door off or something. Didn't think the contact was that hard but something came off your car. Didn't seem to hurt your car as it was still as fast as mine. Thanks Rob for all the work you do for the series. I'm having more fun racing at SRO than I did at R2P. Good drivers, good events.
Had a good time in the opening laps. The race set preformed much better then the qualy set and I found myself hanging behind Mark Hightree. We were on equal pace, so I thought I would just hang back and watch Mark fight with Ricardo Gomes to see if a gap would open. It was important to stay behind Mark when he overtook someone who made a mistake and I wanted to pass the cars between us a.s.a.p. That went oke with a few cars, untill I met with the polesitter who had fallen back. The end result of that fight was that I got punted of the track and lost my front- and rear wing and a door! I felt sorry for Rob Milliken who got caught up in the incident as well. Had to go in for a 93 seconds repairjob. After that I was a little bit pissed that I was a full lap behind everyone and started driving with full determination (minus 1 door) and still had a satisfying result. Grats to Mark for the win. Another outstanding job, well done.
I really enjoyed the practice/Qual I did for the first time in this series and after quite a while with this mod, even though I couldn't run the race. Grats to BVR with Mark & Barrett getting the win along and 5th place in such a competitive field. Hope to run this mod again in a future series, which might suit my available race time Grats to Rob on the work and efforts he has been putting in to his various AC/rF2 series.
Actually my car was weird..acting weird, weird trembling... But hey, racing incident!!! Good race, good win...congrats Mark
I must apologize to Ricardo for entering on track in front of him like a stupid. This damaged his car . I'm really sorry Ricardo for that mistake.
Race incident involving John vd Geest and Murilo Assenato is under review for Rough Driving and Causing an Accident. Remember, if you cause an accident by punting another driver or coming back on track and hitting another car, you must perform a driver thru penalty before race end. It is much better to complete the drive thru during the event than to wait for a harsher penalty to be imposed later. SRO team has also been reviewing replays for track cutting offenses. Cutting the track cannot be avoided but obvious abuse of cutting to gain an advantage will be penalized.
What a great race ! Congrats to Mark on the win ! Mills outer A is a true test with its mix of hi speed turns and quick direction changes ,not to forget the sector 3 chicane ! I had a great q run & found myself in the top 4 ! Then start was good until I got caught up with Carlos when he lost the rear at the right hander into sector 2 , I guessed wrong and went to the out side thinking I would clear him only to be on the receiving end of his tank slapper ! In going to the outside I actually knocked him back on track and saved him from spinning off into the sand .. sadly for me I went from 3rd to 8th as I ended up in the sand ..lol Pressing on I ended up behind JVDG in 7th ! It was some awesome racing ! positions 3 threw 7 were all within a few seconds of each other lap after lap ! Mark & Ricardo had a few door banging moments ! WE thought we might inherit the top spots as they got together But neither one of them gave up there spots ! In the end Mark held the top spot ! We did have a few incidents but over all all the drivers did an excellent job respecting each other ! see you all next week at Portugal gp !
The turn 4 contact resulted in John losing control of his car and leaving the track. Another driver trying to evade the accident made contact with John's car. The replay shows John in control of the racing line at the time of contact. Everyone, please give plenty of room in high speed corners or this may happen. Lap: 14 Timestamp: 1218.300 Normally this incident would result in a drive thru penalty. To be fair to all drivers, we have decided to issue a warning to Murilo Assenato for causing an accident. Only one warning will be issued. Next offense results in drive thru penalty. Big thanks to John for being a good sport about this incident and recovering nicely to score points.
Did my usual great start & past 2 cars before turn 1, took it easy & let 1 back through. Nearly got took out by Scott Ring on lap2, when he came back onto the track from the gravel trap @ turn 8. all was going great & was up to 2nd when I pitted on lap 28, came back out in 7th. lap 32 went into turn five too hot & lost it, ended up facing the wrong way, tried to spin the car round but was still in 3rd gear so ended up in the gravel trap, did quite a bit of damage getting out & had to limp back to the pits. Lost around 2 laps but still came out in 10th
John, I forgot about that, yeah that was a close one.; just as i went into that turn I was amazed that my front end jumped off the ground from running over some body work (I'm assuming since there was some blue body parts off to the side). I was almost spinning all the way around while feathering the throttle and had to go opposite lock to save it . Fun race except all the time I spent in the pits (3) getting more fuel since I dunno how I didnt get my last minute full tank set as the race started, and was way off on my fuel calcs. Maybe I'll get the hang of this sim sooner or later..
Has anyone cut a tire on debris in rf2? I might have to avoid the shrapnel now as this sim stuff gets REAL
Yes Scott! Check the round 3 racev reports thread ! I hit the same thing you did , piece of the front downforce carbon fiber! & i got tossed into a spin !
I seem to remember I had the same problem yonks ago in a Clio race when rF2 was first released and I ran over a small bollard that had been dislodged by a car ahead. It was like hitting a piece of concrete!
