Hi Ken, since I'm new to this mod and I see between the 10 cars available are more than 100 bhp difference, are all cars eligible? And there is car choice or skin selection?
I tried the mod and had some problems with it. FFB in japanese cars (Honda, Lexus, Nissan and Toyota) are odd but ok, but in european cars (AM, Ferrari, Lambo and McL) I have no FFB nor grip. I saw in RD forum that other people had problems too with this conversion, so just to ask if it's just me here with this rare problem. Other minor problems like rev counter not working in some cars. One thing is for sure, I can't drive euro cars since it's like playing with a gamepad.
I'm not sure about the FFB issue, if any, which may be wheel dependant but I'll look into that and see if I can reach any conclusions. As regards the cars, yes the power/torque figures may be different, but so is the weight, drag and centre of gravity which could well have a balancing effect on lap times. It will likely be down to personal choice on which car suits your driving style.
Tested several cars at the Brands Hatch GP track and had no problems with either FFB or grip. Tested the Aston Martin, Lambo, Toyota, Honda & Lexus. I use a TS300 RS wheel.
There is another version of this mod that we could use if it's causing problems for some members, but it only has three Japanese cars and no European makes. I think it looks a little better with less reflective, shiny skins but it feels and drives just as good. That's probably because it was converted from the same original GTR2/rFactor mod.
Let's see if more drivers try the mod and give some feedback. If it's just me, I don't have any problem driving one of the japanese cars and problem solved.
In some of the cars the sounds i a little bit distorted, sounds like I have a bad connection to my speakers on certain revs only (had the same issue with the BMW). Not a major issue as a few cars are ok but suggestions how to fix are welcome. I have noted that all skin veh files are not correct, I have changed to this in all files: Description="GT500: ....." Classes="GT500" This will make the car list in AMS in certain menus show "GT500" instead of a empty string and create a single entry in the Realfeel instead of a new entry for every skin (using default values in your file instead of a dedicated entry). [GT500] MaxForceAtSteeringRack=-3500.000000 SteeringDamper=11500.000000 FFBMixerRealFeelPercent=100.000000 FrontGripEffect=0.200000 SmoothingLevel=2 Kf=4000.000000 Ks=7.000000 A=1.500000 Kr=3.000000 (modified from default) @Ken Jagger, do you think this would cause a online mismatch?
Remember that AMS uses the RealFeel plugin (unless you disabled it). So you can modify the FFB effects. I found the Japanese cars had very strong effects and the Euro cars had very light FFB. As for grip the Euro cars were more difficult but not bad compared with the Japanese. Overall I was getting similar lap times over all the cars with the exception of the McLaren F1.
