In case you missed it The funny part is the video title "video game move", I thought of the following anecdote. Years ago on Race2Play during the qualification for a Nascar/Oval race a few drivers around Jari had discovered wall riding for themselves. This handful of drivers then had to start the race from the very back, because this maneuver was declared illegal with the argument that it was unrealistic (unfair). It seems that this argument is no longer valid from now on. What do you think, does this also (until it is banned) have an impact on sim racing?
Looked intentional to me and as such is using it as an unfair advantage/move. Should've been penalised IMO.
I agree with both of you, it was an unfair advantage and more than questionable form a sportmanship viewpoint. It was intentional see his explanaition here On the other hand, NASCAR seems to be different in that regard. So I would say, in there world it was sort of creative, because on other occasions someone wrecks another car and gets away with it most of the time. Therefore it is not a surprise that he will not be penalised. (But I see no way, other than to ban something like that for future races) Even if such move is dangerous and he said he arrive at the finish line with nearly no brakes. Anyway, apart from that it is unbeliveable that somebody actually tries that without any practise and it works.
