Hey guys, i'll be racing and streaming this upcoming event, if anyone is interested, it'll be on my twitch account ->>

I plan on start streaming from the beginning of quali. And since i don't do livestreams very often, this will be good content to broadcast.

I will be on our teamspeak to talk with whoever is in there.

After the first race at Donington today, a further clarification on allowed tyres for the remaining races has been made as follows:

Now that we better understand the implications of the Tuning option for available tyres, it seems to me that the best way forward with the remaining races in the series, is to follow the intent of the developers and use the tyre options they have outlined in the Tuning Menu for the specific tracks identified.
So what does that mean? Well it will go like this:

    Oulton Park - Standard
    Croft - Medium
    Snetterton - Standard
    Thruxton - Hard
    Knockhill - Soft/Medium
    Silverstone - Medium/Hard
    Brands Hatch - Soft/Medium

Anybody found to be using tyres from a different Tuning option to these will be DQ from the race.

Thanks for the clarification, Ken. Maybe you could also give drivers a reminder of the appropriate tyre set for the track during your "chat" briefing towards the end of practice so that drivers can quickly exit the server, use the tuning menu then rejoin the server before qualifying starts if they had forgotten about tyre choice.

I saw no issue with the current format.

If you qualify on softs, you have a choice of soft and medium for the race.
If you qualify on mediums, you have choice of medium or hard for the race.

Changing to the above format, I'd imagine every fwd car will need to pit for tyres at Oulton.

We are not changing the format Andrew. The change is to stop drivers using soft in qualifying and then exiting and changing the Tuning Option to one which includes Hards.

What does that mean, it's ok that each driver stays on the same compound combination used in qualy (as of round 1)?
If "Standard" is the only option at Oulton Park, all fwd on medium will have to pit, the rwd will not need to pit.

I have not tested yet but that is my initial guess if track similar to Donington where I tested all combinations fwd/rwd.

    Hey Ken,

I think both sides are a little confused.

It seems you cannot qualify on softs anyway and then use hards in the race.

Jens qualified on softs in p2. Tried to change in the tuning menu to use hards in the race but wasn't allowed.
He had to leave the server, and change to the hard option and reenter the server. This invalidated his quali lap and he started at the rear of the grid.

Kahel qualified on softs, couldn't change to hards in the tuning menu, so quit the race (he could have left server, changed to hards and started at the back of the grid like Jens had to)

    Above you have posted..
Oulton - Standard (Which is softs and meds)

Several Subaru drivers did the full race at Donington on mediums without pitting. One driver did the full race on softs without pitting.
If the FWD cars are forced to use mediums (as the hardest compound) at Oulton, every one of them will pit (a lot pitted at Donington when using Hards).

Sure in the real event at Oulton, then only had the choice of softs and meds, but they also only races about 20-25 minutes, whereas we are trying to do 45 minutes on the same tyre.

Either way, whatever the call is by the admin, we will go by it, and hope for the best with our tyres :D

No confusion in my mind here. The only way to change from softs to Hards after Qual is by exiting/leaving the race, which I already pointed out.

What may happen at Oulton, or other tracks for that matter, has yet to be seen. Since rF2 was released there has always been several ways to run a race. all usually based around tyre choice. With some of the faster guys running 1-3 secs a lap faster, they also have the opportunity to pit and still get a podium.

What I will do is agree to review the lessons we learn at Oulton and make a further determination on tyres used then. Which could be the Medium Tuning option for all remaining races.
