I voted yes, it certainly isn't too much payed a lot more at race2play when i was supporting member I stopped being a supporting member though when gridsizes shrunk to the size of a walnut for me it's not about the amount of money but about the principle i'm not eager to pay for racing on almost empty servers

The premium membership is an old thread, we are asking feedback on £5 per year for a drivers license to race.
I'm under the impression that sro is undergoing a transformation (in a positive way that is) maybe delete older threads that have nothing to do with what sro is about today just my 2 cents
If we delete threads they go against the authors post count. It should of been moved that will be done.
I paid $125.00 for maybe 10 races this year and I would be happy to pay that again for quality racing. I was also paying for the statistics, scouting reports and all the other goodies r2p offered. Would be awesome to see that here.
Yes, i would pay, also even more than 5 a year... But not for empty grids! And like said maybe an idea to decrease the number of races and sims. Just focus on 1 or 2 sims for the start AC/AMB/PC for example) And only organize 1 race per sim in a week. You will not get full grids with races every day... My 3 cents ;-)
Full grids these days are a bit of a pipe-dream at most online sites and should not be the ONLY objective of hosting. Limiting the number of races to 1 a week is not the answer, as many guys want to race more than that. There have been plenty of good races with less than 10 entries at R2P. Also limiting the Sims used will alienate lots of guys who either don't like a particular Sim, cant afford it or don't have the Pc specification to run it well enough. Time will tell which Sims, mods, frequency of races and entry lists work well enough to satisfy the SRO owners.
At race2play the attendence of races was very low; too low in the end. 6 people most of the time, maybe even less At Core racing they have ONE server that has a championship running in the same cars for 8 weeks in a row. Is this the way to go: no, cause if the car is not your cup of tea, I can't be bothered But if it is, you're in for some serious fun though cause there is people almost everywhere on track 14 appears to be a low number of participants I know this is not the way to go here I think the audience here is also slightly less 'hardcore' but I agree with Frans: too much sims or series leads to too much fragmentation you can't please everyone (for example: I don't really understand why GTR2 will be introduced here with all due respect but the game is dated compared to the new generation of sims ...it's over 10 years old so, no surprise and you can have all the features of gtr2 in rFactor2 as well) trying to please everyone won't be easy and I believe it will divide up the playerbase even more
I have to agree a little with both approaches .. I myself have found some full grid racing with the sims I like already & made commitments for 3 of my 5 available race days , with weekends still open (except for the G.E.A.R. Sundays Enduro in rF2 where I'm planning on racing but wont know for sure yet) .... theirs so much out there if you look .. and so far we have had what 25 votes here ? so how many of those that even took the time to vote all want the same type of racing/sim ? .. Im trying to drum up some interest in a Saturday AC series here and had about 7-8 reply's .so far with the info I have received its a mix of what days/time they can make .so looks like maybe 3 or 4 can make the slot I can so ... If we want this place to take off we need the attract some drivers .. ! ;-)
This is my first 0,5 cent empirical psychology "says" that too much "things" to choose from leads to anxiety, disconfort hence lack of interest. on the other side, lack of choice leads to the sense that one is not free, hence to lack of interest. You should be aware of this.. This is my second 0,5 cent Focus on one sim (or two, so that the chances i don't have that sim are less) a month, races for every class (open wheel, monday, touring, wednesday, sports cars, friday (and so on).. (for example) The others would be create your own events (every sim, every class) but selected by vote (it is, sadly, or not, the only rational way to chose in group) On a previous week, i would propose a race, like.. rf2, croft, btcc. Another driver, rf1, wes, daytona, --- and so on the pole closes at a given time, the proposition with most votes would win the slot for that day/time this would be done in the days the others events are not i think, it would have to be tought with more time... and carefully but, if everyone does CYO events, drivers go with his/hers personnal tastes (hence, small grids).. if there isn't any, people go away official races and races chosen by the commnunity as a whole... we all pay, we all choose, we all ... , we all
We are going to go down that route main 2 sims will be AC & RF2 with a possibility of the odd club race using SCE RF1 Auto. GT Legends we will run as there will be a league event in the new year. These changes will become affective when the new scoring software has been implemented in to the site we can't give a time frame on that but will be sooner rather than later.
Ok, got it.. two sims and you guys do/choose the races (with plenty of combinations, i presume, following no pattern of interest) Let me ask you this: If a user/member (like me) doesn't like them, i.e., the choices, sims, combos, .... can you say in that case "Sim Racing Online" is not for him? can he make suggestion? Do you see what i mean? Why should such a member pay? ... So he can fill grids? So that the guys that choose the races, sims, combos, don't race alone? Are you looking to make a comunity, a business, or a league?
Right then lets do this one by one. We have not said only 2 sims. We said the two main sims. Yes there will combinations that follow no pattern in the events. Nobody will like every single race that gets posted. Thats the sim world. We all like some stuff and dont like others so there is absolutely no way to please every single member 100% of the time. As for suggestions we are open to those all the time. We also do polls ahead of time asking what cars tracks ect people would like to do for the next month. If SRO is not a place to stay then its not a place to stay. As I said we cant please everybody all the time so its a matter of finding the stuff you do like and race that also maybe trying something new is a good way to get out of the comfort zone. I do see your point of view and I dont agree with it at all. Your point to me comes across as we should be able to host our own events to get what we want. Its nothing to do with racing alone. You are asked to pay £5 to help with costs and also for the leagues and such to be able to offer prizes. Every site is moving or has moved to paying to race. and the only site you could host an event of your own after paying was Race2play no other site does this. Its also the cost. You want to run events then we would need more servers so you would then be looking at at least £10 per month to cover that cost. We are already a community all be a small one but we are growing by the day. We are not looking to make any money what so ever. We are a none profit organisation. We never set out to make money from SRO and we are not ever going to. Every single penny that is donated to us or paying for a membership goes back into SRO and we can prove that.
