I'm still very happy with it. The brake pedal works as well as can be expected without a loadcell. It has the same "heavy" spring as the G27 maybe a bit stiffer. And I think the FFB is better than the G27. I've had the G25, G27 and the G29 now and the G29 is absolutely the best. It does have all kinds of buttons for the Playstation, but I overlook that flaw . You can still assign them for the PC.
They have made some progress with the latest patch ! We now can use the -selectds feature.. Its just like the PC2 server now .. The event can be built on the spot and some changes can now be made while on the server rather than having to exit & go to the DS ... Still no admin commands or vote system .. so that's kind of a bigie for league stuff The driving is getting better & better though and they have improved the door to door net code action .. Next test series we try the admin can use the -selectds . Server is up in public mode , For now its Porsche GT3 Cup cars at Red bull ring !
For those who have questions about AMS2's FFB here's the break down from Reiza: Overview of the Force Feedback settings and our recommendations on how to tune them: PROFILE: Currently there is only one, Default profile - you should only change to "Custom" if you have modified ffb_custom_settings.txt file in MyDocs/Automobilista 2 folder - if you haven´t changed that file, "Custom" will be no different from "Default" profile. GAIN: Defines maximum force output. The default 100% setting has some clipping built-in, specially on high downforce vehicles as in these the steering column torque can easily exceed 30Nm when car is under heavy load in a fast corners, while front tires are fully gripping and self-aligning torque is very high For Direct Drive wheels, it is recommended to set gain around 40-50%. This has thus far been tested mostly on a Fanatec DD1 base. Stronger wheels may use even lower Gain values. LOW FORCE BOOST: Similarly to AMS1, LFB serves as an "amplifier" of FFB when tyres are relatively unloaded, useful specially for wheels with weaker motors like in Logitech G2X wheels, to enhance these lower range forces without necessarily adding clipping to the top range. If you feel the FFB is lacking or "limp" when travelling at slower speeds or during straights, you may want to experiment with some level of LFB - may be set as high as 80% in Logitech G2X or other similar wheels, while stronger Fanatec / Thrustmaster wheels should be set somewhere in the range of 30-60%. Even if you have a Direct Drive wheel and are unsatisfied with the force output while tyres are unloaded, you may use Low Force Boost @ 10-30% without concern for clipping high forces as LFB only applies at the lower end of the force range and will never saturate / introduce clipping on it's own. FX: Adds a little vibration from the engine as it goes through the RPM range (very faint, and linked to the engine´s actual angular velocity); it also adds a "Tyre Scrub" effect, which is a function of tyre vibration that would naturally transfer as vibration onto wheel rim, driven by actual physics signal. MENU SPRING controls wheel centering spring only while navigating the UI. For DD wheels it should be set to 0 or some other very low value. EDIT1: Controller Damping in the UI relates to gamepad & other digital controllers only - it´s NOT a FFB setting. Currently, we do not control damping and friction from in game. Both are important on DD wheels. We will later model these from physics directly. Recommended settings for DD1 Fanatec: Damper: 25 Friction: 5 Inertia: 10 Interpolation: 4 (this is largely down to personal preference. On SimuCube this could be "Reconstruciton filter", some others "smoothing") Recommended settings for Logitech G2X wheels: These are from AMS1 but remain relevant for AMS2, except damper & spring are currently not applied to AMS2. More to come as we get direct experience with a larger range of wheels - in the meantime you can find several user suggestions in replies to this topic.
Stuttering & pausing in AMS2 & PC2: There is a discussion going on in the AMS2 forums about the pauses during the race sessions where P & Q seem fine then the big pause for some players within the first few laps of a race session. Some guys have made some suggestions that have worked for them 1. do a fresh install of nvid video drivers. 2. make sure all the UDP & shared mem stuff is off. 3. in steam command for the game launch disable the replays by adding the command -disableReplay Also there is a video for PC2 that helped a lot of players
Brilliant Rob, will do as the vid says, some real good info hopefully will be able to give another crack at AMS 2 again. I also like that sim a lot. also just fitted new cpu tonight so will see how things go.
Keep in mind Reiza is aware of the MP issues and released this statement back on June 3rd 2022: The reason we are not commenting on Multiplayer development is because we are still investigating what the sources of the reported issues actually are - if this was just a case of getting the work done we would already have done it, but at the moment we´re still not in position to give any reliable prospect. This is not to say Multiplayer is not receiving development attention - we are constantly running Multi tests in Beta and taking note of the issues we encounter parallel to ones being reported in the community, and we do have a period scheduled before the next milestone update dedicated to pursuing core Multiplayer improvements - whether that will lead to substantial breakthroughs or just minor improvements we´ll only know after we get through it - until then there is little to be said in the topic other than we´re not oblivious to it. Now I understand that those of you who are primarily into Multiplayer will feel we should be making this a higher priority, the simple fact however is that in development we´ll always tend to focus on tasks we know we can achieve to deliver quantifiable progress to the game in a timely manner, and right now we still have many of those lower hanging fruits of value to the player base at large keeping us busy.
The Formula 3 is my favourite car in the game so far. The GT3s aren't as good as ACC. The truck is undriveable (by me) but I would like to drive it lol. I think I'm just no willing to accept it takes 5000 meters to stop a lorry cab. Would love to do a F3 series.
Would also love an open wheel series - any chance of a new AMS2 series on any night other than Saturday?
