Yeah, that's pretty standard drifting technique in competition. If you get it wrong you crash badly, but it's normally used in situations where you're controlling the car through the brake throttle anyway so is fairly forgiving as long as you pay attention.
I learnt that one the hard way in about 2003

A lot of good discussion happening here - Just to add a personal request/opinion that I thought of when I saw the Can-Am proposal and Mark's reply

Can we please, please, please for the love of God race the cars on period-correct tracks and/or include as many as possible in the voting list next series? Or at least Modern tracks that maintain their original layouts?

I could actually feel my lifespan decreasing when we were running the DRM cars at the Lauzitsring it was so soul-draining.

I think this is an important topic, Ted. I look forward, once we have selected a mod, to testing and discussing suitable tracks. I'd love to see good quality historic (that would mean we've chosen a good classic mod) selection of tracks for the series. Failing that, as you said, tracks with their original layout.

Tracks that I'd propose for consideration depending on the mod:
Proper racetracks: Bridgehampton, Nordschleife (always), Mugello, Donington Park historic, ...
Street/country tracks: Fonteny, LA Canyons loop, Lake Louise loop, EVO triangle loop, Feldbergring, Deutschlandring, Zandvoort 1948/72, Spa 66, Charade, Kyalami 1967, Silverstone 1967, Monza 66, Monza with banking, ...

    ... and many more.

Been thinking that myself just recently, having just upgraded to a DD wheel with its much stronger torque forces. I only have a GT style suede 'D-wheel' and in the Ferrari GTO race the other night i found i couldnt let the wheel naturally feedback through some of the turns, ie how you naturally drive an older car. I think i need to get a leather circular rim to play it through my hands when driving the vintage stuff, maybe a deeper dish too....and some stitched-back driving gloves :D
Its got a quick release so swapping rims isnt an issue.

There is no meaning nor real pleasure in driving these cars without them, Mark.

re wheels, this looks like a 270mm to me, what do you think? in a 935. (Seen same smaller wheel in a 962 onboard). Thought smaller diameters are usually only in single seaters. My 911 has a 350mm momo.

I've always built my race cars with 300mm or 320mm D-cut/flat bottom wheels because I hook my thumbs into the cross-bar and because I'm a fatass who needs my big thighs to be able to heel-toe under the wheel unless I was driving something I hadn't built myself or I screwed up the measurements like on my Escort and was too far away from the wheel, it never caused me any issues, even when driving vintage cars or cars that slid around a lot.

Too big ends up getting really annoying really quickly, in my experience.

How about aliens take mazdas, rest of us mortals can choose any ;)
seems an absolute crime that there isn’t a good Group C modpack available :( but still think a 30 car grid of 962’s (or Mazdas) would be ace on a set of good tracks.

All the 6 tracks for the CanAm 1966 mod are available. I already uploaded Laguna Sega and Stardust. The rest are on standby.

Round 1 - Mont-Tremblant (modern): http://www.mediafire.com/file/e3kjk5kxh085d6b/mt_tremblant.zip/file Will have to be replaced. Only has 20 pitstalls.
Round 2 - Bridgehampton (vintage): Sim Racing Online
Round 3 - Mosport (modern): Sim Racing Online
    Round 4 - Laguna Seca (vintage): https://drive.google.com/file/d/1thbtSY3XCCtw9lcHy9Lf0CGOYYNORkAh/view
Round 5 - Riverside (vintage): Sim Racing Online
    Round 6 - Stardust (vintage): https://drive.google.com/file/d/1IWfZ1BU9n88CC7_jnO8qAKD-OTfIIwo2/view

Tracks with 24 pitstalls will have to be the minimum. No less.

    Thanks John.
I had a look the other day at Stardust (great!) and Laguna Seca (vintage). The latter wasn't really great quality IMHO...
Bridgehampton and Riverside are top tracks.
Haven't checked yet Mont-Tremblant or Mosport...

Ah good i know which documentary you are speaking of. Good to see another person that understands Rotary to some degree at least. And i should expect nothing less from the business that made rotary even possible (well i mean we got the scientist who thought of it. etc.) on the know hows of their vehicles capabality. :)

Awesome thanks! I'm downloading everything right now to try out since the Can Am 66 proposal seems to be doing well in the votes so far!

As a replacement for Mont Tremblant I'd be up for just about anything since the rest of that calendar is so absolutely stacked.

I've put up one more mod proposal because it's just gold and I think it should be looked at.
    It's on the voting page.

Hi all, just a little update in order to explain I updated my votes in the dedicated thread, adding some "disagree" votes whose you posters shouldn't take any offense : I just tagged the proposals I'm the most cold with, like a few guys seem to have done before also.. Just because the voting system looks a bit simplistic and complicated at the same time, with more and more proposals, the possibility to vote several times, some people putting some "agree" while most of drivers put their "like", etc..

This even makes pop up an idea here, tell me guys what you think about it, John particularly of course : why not consider a negative and positive system, with a bit of weight :

"Winner" = "From all the mods I like, this is the one I'd choose if I had to pick up one!" = +3 points (With only 1 Winner vote per driver allowed)
"Like" = "Oh yes I tried and know the car(s) and would be very happy with this proposal" = +2 points
"Agree" = "Maybe not my cup of tea but fair enough" = +1 point
"No vote" = "I have no opinion so far and/or could make the series if it wins" = 0 point
"Disagree" = "I really dislike it or think it wouldn't make for a nice series at all for various reasons" = -1 point

Since we still have a while to go yet until the votings closed, can I keep posting new things I find that might be good if I feel like they're worth Suggesting?
