Well that lasted about as long as I thought it might. Must say these cars are great to drive and they do tempt you to push on but they bite back very sharply. Hope a few of you manage to do better than I did

Not sure if I'll continue with rF2 as it's so unfamiliar I spend more time fumbling around with settings than I do driving....and the ui just seems 20 years out of date when compared with content manager in AC I end up having to google everything. If I do try another event it will have to be something a bit less full on.

Good racing John! Locked the brakes up and then my computer locked up. Crap. Practice and it's all good and then race time and it locks up. Pssss. So enjoyable driving these crazy cars. Until next time.

I was sorry to see you go. That could have been a great battle until the end.
In the replay I saw you selecting Reverse and trying to get going, but no dice. Better luck next time man!
That longer first gear really worked.

Hey! Sorry I couldn't make it. I was ill. I would have unregistered, but I didn't want to get out of bed to get my phone. I think it was food poisoning, because I feel better now.

Damn it! Could have sworn this was a Sunday race. Need glasses I think. It's that damn calendar. Sunday is the last day of the week not the first. That why its called the weekend. Still I should have learnt by now. I was really looking forward. Hopefully we can have a full series with these cars at some point. :(

    That was an interesting race!
About a month ago I did my first RF2 online race. Lola T70 it was, not the obvious rookie choice... but I managed to finish that race. For this one I decide to go for the Lola T280. It seemed a bit less demanding to drive than the Howson (which has similarities with the T70 I believe). Finding the correct setup is still a challenge, but I feel I am getting there step by step. Changing the configuration settings of my wheel gave also an improvement.
In off-line practice I managed to do a 1:06,1xx (once). I was not expecting to reproduce this online but I was pleased with a 1:07:0xx in practice. The qualy time was slightly slower.
Than the race: After the formation lap I was expecting a standing start (my bad) so I accelerated not very fast. In lap 4 I passed a cloud full of dust, hiding a red car (that appeared to be Mariusz), so I was 3th. In lap 8 I went off between the railway viaduct and the river, but luckily managed to get back on track. Only little damage and a flat spot. Shortly after that I all of a sudden found myself in 2nd position. Tudor disappeared. In lap 15 I missed my braking point and another flat spot was the reward. My wife was asking why Simracing produced so much sound...:(. The sound however was one thing... the massive rattle in my wheel, even resonating in the pedals was another thing. In lap 24 I did what everyone does when driving this track for the first time... I overshoot the T-junction and found myself in the meadow. A quick reverse was enough to continue and limit the loss in time. Just before the end Jens lapped me (proving that I still have to practice my driving skills), but I managed to finish 2nd. Happy, did not expect that to be honest.

Thanks for the race. It was big fun!

Well, this was an experiment to see if we could do a series and it failed. There is not enough interest for it. Only 8 guys showed, 4 in each class.

Because she probably heard this when you overshot ...

Was it a lack of interest in the cars or a lack of interest because it was a single event. It's sad that historic cars that are difficult to drive don't seem to attract a lot of people. But I think the majority of people want to drive cars with plenty of downforce because on the face of it they are easier to drive. :(

True, everybody can see that the modern cars are much more popular then the classic cars. Which is a real shame, because like you said, the driving is much more dependant on the driver and car control.

With the league you have set up and up coming TCL and DRM series hopefully we can build up a group of drivers who like the good ole days :)

All of our team are Historic car drivers :D

    Davide doesn't do rF2
    Mark was ill yesterday
I had practiced in the wrong Howston, and didn't have time to get setup for correct version
Bill hasn't had broadband since a lightning strike over a week ago
    And Jens won

but as ever, it is all to do with the mod, and the time / day that the events are held.
