For this race, you will only have 3 sets of tires (12 total). 1 set should last the whole stint, so you can use a fresh set for Q, and 2 sets left for the race.
First try LMU and I spun out ... Lost a wheel doing it. I was left with 3 wheels on my car (not including the steering).
I was glad to see you in there! I hope you will be joining more LMU events as they come! And if you have any questions about the SIM, just ask. There are tons of YouTube videos out there!
I know you have to balance the virtual energy with the fuel for the race, but how does that apply for qual? And what if you have to pit for half a tank more, do you have to adjust the virtual energy as well?
Good Questions .. To carry less fuel/weight in Q, it's just the same as we do now with any other sim, just use the v-fuel slider as it was the gas, because basically it is! You can drop it way down to 20% 30% ..It will show you the approximate laps, so you can just set it to 5 laps worth if you want. This percentage of fuel / v-energy will be displayed next to your name. When you look at the running order/leader board, you will see the percentage each driver has to the right of his name & lap times as you're driving.. The balancing of virtual energy is simply a ratio, and once you have it balanced (default sets are 98% balanced and don't need any adjusting), you don't need to mess with it. So, No you will not need to change that ratio when pitting for a splash & dash or full tank (unless you want to). Once the fuel to V-energy ratio is balanced, you're done. When you're driving, if you look at the 2 fuel bars, the V-energy and the fuel (under the UI tachometer), you want the laps shown for each to match as close as possible, that = balanced & the default and the Coach Dave sets will already be balanced .. it takes about 3-4 laps for the V-energy and Fuel to calibrate to what the ratio is so it might show 23 laps next to the fuel but 20 next to the v-energy when you pull out of the pits but this will adjust/change once you have done a few laps to give you the real number. you will see that the default sets level out to show equall laps after a few laps .. Now pitting for fuel/v-energy to finish the race! This is where LMU is different from all the other sims. Let's say you have 10L showing as what's left in your tank, and you want to add 10 more on your pit stop to give you a total of 20L to finish the race. In rF2 you simply set it up to add 10 to what you already have. In LMU to add 10 to what you already have, so you leave your pit stop with 20L, you MUST set it to 20L as the number. If you set it to 10L it sees you already have 10L in the tank and won't give you any lol ..So, the thing to remember in LMU pit stops is set the number to what you need to finish the race, not what you want to add.. what ever number you set the fuel to will be what you leave the pits with, unless the number you select is less than what you have in the tank already, in that case it will do nothing, and you will just leave with what you already had, (if you set it to less than whats already in there It won't remove the fuel thank god lol).. I hope that clears it up a little haha
Only thing i'd add to Rob's info is this link to the LMU forum: "Trying to figure out fuel/virtual" Where a very knowledgeable guy named Emilian Huminiuc explains how all this fits into pit strategy.
I disagree with everything. I still have no idea but i use the value from those premade setups. Havent failed me yet.
