We need test drivers! Tonight, Wed 6th, 18:00 to 19:30 ish GMT to test the in-game formation lap / rolling starts as well as the broadcast capabilities.
Sessions will be quick, 10 min Practice, 5 min Q, 10 min races. We will probably do 3 or 4 tests in total!
This is crucial to determine the start type for the series!
If in game rolling / formation lap start has issues, we will move to the SRO manual formation lap for the series.
If you can make it be on TS any time after 18:00 GMT

Bummer. I will be at work. Too bad because this will be my first AMS2 race and I need the practice. I'm still learning how the car works and how pit stops works, never mind learning a track that has not been easy to learn :) I am looking forward to it!

Thanks for showing up! the test went well & in game rolling start seemed to work but it was a small field so maybe we will do some more testing before Sunday to be sure!!

Sorry I got delayed at work. Yeah for sure if you decide to do anymore tests post them up here :)

Gonna be running some laps tonight anyway to get used to the car. The track is quite simple of course but the corners are so wide they just want you to keep going faster….until you go lawn mowing…lol.

Same here except not available 18:00-19:00 for the next two days. 19:30 or anytime after works

Little piece of setup advice for people on here. Some may know it already but thought it might be useful.

this was an issue that affected Project Cars 2 as well.

it’s very tempting to close the radiator opening to gain some top speed, and it does work quite well. All seems good.

however unlike RF2 for example where your engine simply gets too hot and blows up, I’ve noticed both PC2 and AMS2 have the same result.

there is no engine light on these sims, you’ll see in the lower right hand corner a car damage indicator, if you have too much restriction on the radiator you’ll slowly damage the engine (you’ll see 1, then 2, then 3 and so on). There is then no warning, the engine just fails on you. You’ll also notice that the engine slowly over time loses power.

it’s caught out lots of racers on race department and I seem to remember it caused retirements on PC2 races on here as well.

so just make sure you have enough air getting into the radiator to avoid any problems.

did about 30 laps tonight. Trying to do a setup that’s just stable rather than fast but so far so good. Lol.

Guessing there isn't any livetiming or anything. What's a fast lap around here?

Also, does anyone have a decent base setup for here? Absolutely clueless with AMS2

Great cars enjoyed the testing although sorry I had to leave to eat my dinner as it was getting cold . Wild cars I will have to tame my right foot. The track is difficult as I race in VR with reverb G2 so flatness of track can make corner entry difficult to see. Once I got going I really liked it. Will be practising at times through the rest of the week until race night trying setups. Principles of setup apply as they do in most cars but weight balance will need some testing.

The base setup works pretty well when you can predict what the car will do.

You're looking at about a 1 minute lap I think. I did a quali run last night and managed a high 57 but due to the bumpy nature of the track it's very difficult (for me anyway) to maintain that pace all the time. So most of the time I'm a 59 or 60 second lap. The car is just bouncing around a lot so 57's will be too much, haha.

Setup wise, I just softened the suspension, softened the rear anti roll bar and a few other tweaks. It's tempting to remove loads of downforce for straight line speed but the track is so bumpy you need the aero to carry the speed through the high speed corners. In my view anyway. Others may be able to hang on :)

The key for me seems to just be smooth as possible, I'm trying to carry and flow the speed through the corners, it's very tempting to just stab at the throttle but I'm finding I'm losing more time that way.

For setup one suggestion I have is to maybe to use time trials to find a Q setup and work from there for the race. Maybe find a driver whose sets work for you and then for the race at the very least play with the turbo and/or ducts so the car doesn't die after a single lap or two.

Noooo, don't give away my setup secrets! haha :)

But yes you're right all the setups will have closed brake, engine, ducts so ok for one lap but the car is toast after about two or three laps and the tyres may turn to jelly, lol. So some adjustment is needed for it to be raceable :)

Also for those who want to try this method, not surprisingly the person setting the lap time decides whether they want to share the setup so you may find quite a few don't give you the option to save it to your collection.

On the plus the ghost overlay is a great way to learn the circuit.

This was one of my favourite features on Project Cars 2 and Reiza just copied it across to AMS2 which was nice of them.

I saw that @Csaba Lako is very high in the online hotlap timing standings. He will probably have a good idea on what setup works well for these cars

Where can I see lap timings. Is it online somewhere?. Was wondering if we can have a longer than 10 mins practice session
