I was on the server with a guy last night, and he was just so much faster on the straights. I am a pad user, maybe that's why I have a problem with the downshifting.... And maybe why I'm generally slow!
I'm pretty much certain that the majority of our regular racing members will be using a wheel for driving, which gives so much more precision and control than a gamepad or similar device could hope to achieve.
For sure Ken. I do race in another league fairly competitively - but it's an automatic gearbox in that league, which helps me. Also its a lower powered car, so not so much wheelspin in the lower gears.
My (so far limited, offline) experience with these cars is that they do prevent you from downshifting before the engine is ready to handle it.
Will there be a pit lane speed limit as there is no allowance for a pit lane speed limiter? For safety sake...
You should "blip" the throttle on the downshifts to keep the rear stable. I used this setup for Long Beach 1979. It's good on all the cars. Give it a try. Don't slam the throttle down coming out of slow corners when in low gears. You can only be aggressive if you are sort of in a straight line. You have to feel the rear tires "bite". Also, give the tires 2 laps to warm up before really attacking the track. Remember that you are starting on cold tires. Cold = no grip.
Really sorry Ken. I've had to unregister from the series. My usual league has started up again, and it's running on the same nights as the Cart 1990 races. Apologies, and good luck with the series.
A shame that you can't make it for this series Julian, but hopefully we will see you sometime soon in another one. Good luck in your other League series.
I have Covid. Every time I shift a gear, it's like a 5 pound bar. I have to put the car specific multiplier to 13 just to turn the wheel. At practice I was like "why are these shifts so heavy?" "Why would someone make shifters only Arnold can shift with", and then you realize, I'm just week and sick. Hope to make it tomorrow
This is going to be a bumpy one. Will there be a pit lane speed limit? I'm not sure what the expectation of pit lane etiquette is without a speed limit.
Greetings guys, great to be here again. I didn't find anything about mandatory pitstops. How are the regelations?
looks like a pit stop would only be necessary for damage or strategy. nothing in the series notes re: limits, etc. so basic etiquette in effect: check your mirrors before you pull out.
