Perfect i just needed a base understanding of how these cars work i can figure the rest out from this read. Usually better for me to have like a picture or some info on these cars mechanically either IRL or from a racers standpoint. This will definitely help much appreciated!

I made a little trip to Meadowdale with that 1980 Lancia, and had a couple of laps. It's a good car and doesn't fall behind Toyota much for example with top speed. If at all :)

Here's a video recording of the replay. Low quality video because of maximum size available. Probably boring at first, but take these several minutes and maybe something comes up to you.

I've put up some huge speed and gear numbers with pedal inputs on display. Notice that in Assetto Corsa's replays the clutch input is not recorded, sadly, only throttle and brake. Driven with default setup so endurance tires and 30 liters of fuel, watch the turbo gauge and see how much it needs to climb up to the top when on throttle. Top gear is too short.

Still figuring out the track and also what this car can take there. But you'll get the idea. Also, watch the RPM and acceleration. If at 7000-7500 that's ok for acceleration out of corner. Lower than that like from 6000 can be bogging it down because of lower torque at that RPM. With Lancia from 7000+ to 9000 is all good. So here in particular, the 5th gear should probably read about 280 kmh in the garage when setting it up. You need to leave some RPM "breathing space" to the engine always, out of the corners and in the straights when using full turbo or when drafting.

Always take some time to look at car's engine performance in the UI, and remember it. After 9000+ it starts to loose horsepower and it's also close to the limiter. Then the limiter will prevent gas input and you'll loose both speed and turbo load as you'll hear and see in the video.

John, just open the rar file and select those 3 cameras files and copy them. Than find the assettocorsa\content\tracks\gb_meadowdale\data folder and paste them there. You'll see the first default cameras.ini file there also. That data folder is where the camera files should all be for any other track and separate layout's data folder if any.

Perfection! Bookmarked this for reference. Im realizing that you cant accel to close on the limit like my GT4 Maserati. Its hard to find a reference point off sound alone with these cars. :)

What a great track, awesome. Very difficult to drive. 60 minutes without mistakes will be a challenge

Did some laps to learn the circuit yesterday. It's an awsome track, it's true, but I'm guessing that we should make an extra rule for this one :D
Chaps that follow a Ford Capri or another car having same issues can't exploit any slpistream before the jump, cause we will have to brake to avoid a take off. If the driver in a slipstream of a Capri doesn't lift what will be the result in your opinion? I already know it, so be sure to avoid exploiting any slipstream before the jump if you notice you have a Capri ahead :D
I add that if I don't lift and brake enough before the jump and my car starts to fly, when it lands I lose approximately 0.6 seconds and nearly 60-70 kph less than usual speed, so you have an high chance to find a car approximately 60 kph slower than you after that jump, when you are full throttle at 280 kph. That could result in a disaster.
In conclusion, I like so much this track but, without any intent to be polemic, I firmly guess that this issue will create a mess during the race, especially if the situation I described will appear during the first lap or so, when we will be very close to each other.

See post 32 where I offer drivers to change their car in the same division only for this event.

Sorry John. I just realized I missed to read all the previous post in page 2 of the thread:D:D

I don't want to change car actually, but the issues in that case will stay as it is. Don't know what to say. It's a difficult call for you, unless you force all the Div 1 and 2 drivers on flying cars to change them mandatorily only for this round. It will be difficult for every driver keeping the concentration in every lap doing something "unnatural" like go off the slipstream of the driver you follow. I would be happy to make some tests in the weekend with you, Tim, Filip and all the drivers who can to enlarge the numbers of the test and see what happens in that situation

I think all fast setups will try and fly - These cars like heavy rear downforce to deal with rear tire temps and grip so if you fly they'll always try and land the rear first.
One option is to massively reduce rear downforce until you fly straight (Good fun this  ), but the cars are terrible in corners and will never finish the race at any sort of speed on their own tires.
Option 2 (On the M1 at least) is to raise the ride height massively and raise the rear relative to the front - this has some handling effects but they are far better than option 1. You can also carry more speed 'down' the bump doing this.

Or just approach slower - I'm having such big tire temp issues that I imagine I'll be running intentionally slow in the race (Qualy should be epic fun, I actually have an M1 that corners now ;) - for 1 lap at a time!)

The Ferrari will fly with too much rear wing .exactly as Tim says .But surely everyone will need to lift anyway whether their car takes off or not to prevent the engine from over revving.

The Lancia either doesn't have enough speed or it has enough front downforce on default setup for the crest downhill. Either way, I didn't have to go off throttle when making that little video. No problems. I didn't try them all but probably Division 2 cars won't have any problems. However, with division 1 cars, most likely will have to lift off throttle there.

The Div.2 Ford Escort definitely has to lift off before the crest with default setup (at least in my hands). And with my actual setup, it has to do a slight lift at the right moment, even if the problem is a bit less pronounced. And the car is damn slow before reaching that crest yet, comparing with Div.1 cars.
However I don't want to change my car because it would look "artificial" to me, I just have to drive with this aspect in mind.

But remember that when you all will be about to lap and re-lap me ! :D
