I took the Porsche because it has a 100 liter tank and I checked the Aston Martin that only had an 80 liter tank, but I did not check the other cars because I'm lazy.
Pretty surprised that most everyone kept going without stopping for fuel.
My fuel was 3.39 liters per lap and I barely made it with 0,8 liters left. What fuel use did everyone else have?
I was also on the medium tyres as I thought soft wouldn't make it (without testing). And ... the soft did make it.

@Rob Milliken, can I take another car if I forfeit my points? That Porsche is a snail.

My fuel use was just under 3L per lap with some short shifting but the 488 only gets an 87l tank :(

tbh that was the first time ive done an hour driving these cars a few lapses of concentration though partly driven by others to be fair; some surprising lapped car behaviour, and Robin just disappeared to me when going through Sunset, the last corner only for him to just reappear behind me. The distraction in trying to understand what happened meant i went off and let him back through.
Also the corner after the tight hairpin was definitely my nemesis, just struggled to brake for that corner.

Was using 3L a lap with a 91 tank size, game was estimating 30.2Laps race distance, managed to cross the line with about 1.5L left. But i was stationary a few times lol

I think you just need to pick a solution, what ever it is, the cars just arnt designed for an equal single stint length like in SRO series i.e GTWCE.
Sunds like reduce it by 5min will ensure it stays as a single stint race with no one worrying about fuel
Increasing the time will force everyone to pit and therefore through the extra risk and complexity of pitting into the mix that might affect peoples races. But will just end up just being about tyre management.

Agree or 50 minutes to be totally out of the worrying zone.

personally, i'd prefer a longer race than a shorter one.

that said... tiny pedal was telling me a full tank was 61 minutes worth of fuel, so i needed to conserve to have that extra lap if needed. quickly lost the slipstream, because i short shifted the entire race, with a few exception laps when i had a bit of fuel buffer to burn and Neil was too close :). finished the race with 1.15L on 33-40% tires, but i was noticing the wear via the occasional lock-up.

i think strategy adds to the enjoyment.

    great fun!

For this opening series you may all change cars if you like without penalty. This is our first run with LMU so its part discovery. I must say the racing was very good with a few exceptions but that's racing .. Also in real racing the drivers face the same challenges whether it's managing tires or fuel so the need for either is not a break from reality ..
With the exception of Drag racing:p
I will start a pole where we can vote on race distance.. ;)

I have to agree i think 60 mins or a fraction longer is/will be more fun and the extra strategy makes it more fun and more action on track, i mean it'll be to easy if we all pick the the most OP car and just blasted away from the field, have to tray battle back through pack from p11 and 2 silly mistakes and find away past Barretts super wide CR8 and save fuel made it way more fun but that's just my 2 cents

or the other option is make and mandatory pit stop window from opens at 25 mins in shuts at 35 mins in

ACC has the pit window but no such feature exists in LMU, even without the pit window the strategies will need careful thought with the longer races..

Yeah I'm not sure what happened there, My PC just froze for a couple of seconds, I thought the game had crashed, but it just came back on and I was 200m from where I was and had lost a place.. not sure if it was server lag or just my PC playing up.

Really enjoyed the race though, had some decent close racing for the first 30mins. Pretty much on my own for the last 30. Which game me some time to ease off and go into fuel saving mode.

Hate to save fuel, I'd rather just go full speed. Shortening the race by 10mins sounds like the best solution, or a mandatory pit stop.

I wish LMU had a way to force mandatory pit stops but it doesn't, leaving the only sure way to force a stop is to extend the time where everyone will need a splash to finish ..
The idea of the LMU series was not to be sprint races .... I personally like the idea of slightly longer races to force a pit stop ..:D

This is a good tool designed for lmu

you can actually compare the cars and dispite the diffeence in fuel tanks there not a great deal in it depending on lap times and weather you driver aggressive or smart

To my knowledge all cars will do an hour so I'd prefer to keep it at 60 mins to keep in line with the endurance aspect of these cars otherwise it just becomes a sprint race or a sprint race with a pit stop.
With efficiency being the key here, someone further down the grid or not as quick as the front runners stands every chance of being on the podium or getting race wins by just being more economical with their fuel and tyres, I personally like that unpredictability!!

But this whole discussion is becuase not every car has the same range, so will push people into the cars that have a better fuel economy.

Is that the case? I thought LMU's BOP adjustments included stint length considerations (fuel capacity, flow, useage etc), but i don't have any inside knowledge on that.

In fact, they just the week before they were running 2x 30 minute races at Sebring, and the results didn't seem to favor any cars from what i could tell. Unfortunately you can only see the results of the races you were in, and the porsches and ferrari's were the cars favored by the fast guys, so my assessment may be wrong.

finishing positions for the three races i did (all split 1/2):
    race 3 (13GTE) / race 2 (15GTE) / race 1 (17GTE)
    ferrari / porsche / ferrari
    Vette / porsche / porsche
    ferrari / ferrari / vette
    ferrari / ferrari / porsche
    porsche / vette / porsche
[ well, my formatting efforts failed. im listing the finishing order vertically 1-5 and the race horizontally most recent first ]

There was only one Aston in one race, finishing 8th.
