The original Porsche 917 race cars did not have standard rear-view mirrors. Instead, a hole was made in the roof to accommodate an extra mirror for rear visibility, a modification introduced to solve the problem of limited rear view, particularly due to the car's high rear end and aerodynamic design. This unique solution was used on early versions of the 917, including the 917K, which featured a tunnel in the tail for rear vision and re-routed exhaust pipes. Later models, such as the 917/10K, also had rear wing and mirror components, indicating continued attention to aerodynamics and visibility, though specific mirror configurations varied. The one-off road-legal 917, chassis 30, had external rear-view mirrors added as part of its modifications for public road use.

Do your points get wiped or do they transfer over?

Neither. The points from the Porsche class stand. I'm just not adding to them. So now I'm also building points for the GT class from this event onwards.

    Btw: Cobra nr. 64

Well that sucks like a vampire at Halloween :(
Love this track and I probably put in more practice than usual for this event (No, I promise you, I do actually practice :)) so it's a real pain in the neck for my car(s) to refuse to select any gear other than reverse!!!!
Practiced and quallied, but wouldn't let me take any further part, even with different cars :(
A few minutes before the end of qually, my gearbox got stuck in 2nd (could not shift up - did the same at least once in off-line practice) and the engine blew. Don't think that contributed to not being able to continue though. When leaving the server I saw a message saying I was bumped due to not having the relevant content!!!??? (or words to that effect) and when I quit the session, rF2 downloaded about 50mb of workshop content.
After practicing on the server prior to the event and taking part in practice and qualifying during the event, how could I not have all the content?
Anyway, thanks to everyone for waiting while I tried to find a car with gears. I hope everyone enjoyed their race. See you next time.

Like Gilles, I did put a lot of practice into this track.
However, my usual nerves got the better of me at the Green and I forgot how to drive. I was skating around the track, came off three times in the first couple of laps but miraculously didn't get any damage. Settled down but then the avalanche of Class 1's passed me by leaving me shell-shocked. I very quickly realised that finishing was all about staying in track and trying to manage the Class 1 passing points. I didn't much enjoy tonight, I was just terrified of causing an accident as the closing speed was (for me doing steady 2-40's) insane.
Then the server crash. It was nice to have a rest.
Off we went once more. Only 3 Class 2's left so my first SRO podium.
The Class 1 leaders came flying by and then Nick and I collided at the kink on the fast back straight. I'll be honest, I didn't even see him. Apologies if it was my fault. I was severely damaged but managed to limp pathetically back to the pits for a long repair session. I was pleased to see that Nick was still running in 3rd.
Got out in time for one more lap before seeing the chequered flag.
Stressful tonight (in a good fun way). Now relaxing with a nice glass of Whiskey.
Many thanks to John for keeping such a cool head on resetting the server and thanks for such accurate driving guys. It is really difficult to know what to do when you have a Class 1 closing you down like a supersonic missile, inevitably at the chicane!

Hard last 30 minutes, Lars had better tyres but server crash saved me from it, or did it? was really struggling and allmost out many times in last 30minutes where just couldnt get into it again...
@Simon you were allways on point when passed you. Good job!

    Tough one, GG's everyone.

no worries Simon, with the closing speed into the kink it was either run into the back of you or thread the eye of the needle and pray, glad you managed to finish, I got damage too which cut short my battle with Lars and Toni but was able to consolidate third.

In a way i'm kinda glad the server crashed as it made for a really good battle between the 3 of us, despite its length its quite hard to overtake at this track, Lars was getting held up a bit behind Toni which allowed me to put pressure in the last sector where I was a little faster but if you cover the inside line its impossible to overtake, I can see why this is a track day only circuit, good fun anyhow.

Well done everyone, looked tough going out there. The Asian tour for the next 2 rounds should produce some interesting racing I bet!

Thanks to @John vd Geest for getting us back and running. Also thanks to those that spotted that @Rob Milliken was muted near the start of the broadcast. I was probably answering questions that didn't exist (audibly) :D
