Yeah it’s odd, since starting the new job I’m not finding too much spare time. I’m either working or sleeping. lol. So apologies for not racing with SRO much recently.

I know the next track reasonably well as we’ve raced on it before so at least I have more of a decent starting point.

Thought I had pole in the bag but Carl and peter had other ideas.

Did not test in the dark which was a mistake as my frame rate was so bad I nearly thought about retiring, practically undriveable for the first 30 mins so had to take it easy, I also left my qualy wing level on by mistake so rear end was tail happy as well, only last 30 mins was normal framerate restored which allowed me to get back into 3rd, happy with the result given the circumstances, well done Carl you were on fire in this race and made the alternate strategy work.

The night race was still a good idea tho john, maybe a wet race for one of the remaining races will spice it up further, I feel we should have at least one wet race for each championship to improve wet weather driving skills and make things a bit more unpredictable and challenging.

I enjoyed the night/dark start, with this mod and the track it wasn’t too stressful on my pc so I was surprised I was in the high 80’s FPS wise which was good.

Rain is tricky, same situation as darkness I suppose, although you can switch off various effects to ease the burden on the PC. The only downside is it makes it more tricky to figure out the condition of the track.

Well done you drive a great race.

Fair enough, the "original" S397 Oreca 07 had a LM and high downforce package and the LM setup was always miles faster. When in real life racing the high downforce package was run everywhere (except Le Mans). S397 then did an update which kind of removed that advantage.

I’ll do a back to back test to see if there’s any difference. Worth a try anyway. In theory the WEC package would generate more drag (and lower top speed) but we’ll see.

on the positive side, due to the age of the mod, the usual setup tricks work quite well on the Oreca 05. :) The only uncertain part is the gearing, if I remember the ratios were fixed in real life but on this mod you can adjust them as much as you like.

My wings were 1-5 and chassis very soft.
Race was very physical for me with a problem in right eye that has a small cut innit. Got poked there with a finger...
Anyhow i got into lead couple times but couldnt hold it. Track felt very slippery too maybe low temperatures?
Final stages was on last push to try get lead agsin and maybe hold it few laps for the win but got tangled with a P2 and spun.
Race was very rewarding and pure. Dont want to go into negative sides as if you go 90 minutes of Romans pace, you doing pretty good :)

Q: I made a very good first flying lap, had more in the bag, but it didn't come together in one lap. P4.
R: Nick and Peter made a mistake in T1 and I was P2 for a moment until I made one and P3. Then I started to close down on Nick and overtook, I knew you must have had some problems.. Then Robin also followed and overtook Nick, and we had great close racing with overtakes. At the end of the race Nick was getting stronger and was closing in. A few corners before finish line I made a mistake, went off track, but luckily didn't spun and had enough gap to stay in front and took P2.
It was a really great race for me, enjoyed it a lot and got a great result! See you all in Shanghai!

I really liked the Korea circuit and hope we get to run on it again soon. Likewise with the day/night or night/day transitions - more of those please :)
Congrats to @Carl Middleton and @Roman Granatovich for their wins and commiserations to @Toni Talvitie, after being deprived of the chance to fight to the finish.

As it happens, I have given you all an opportunity to decide on the weather & Night/Day yourself for the next round:

Just finished watching the Miami GP. Some nice moments, though nothing to compare to the racing between Roman and Toni (and other battles) at Korea, but, boy-oh-boy, I really want a life-size lego car! :D
