I destroyed my own race today, luckily not John's... The perfect storm occured when I spun... I made a small mistake and a micro stutter happened at the same time (lots during the race, IDK the reason). Alone, none of these would be a problem, but at the same time.... I wasn't able to correct and crashed. It was a shame, as we were reducing the gap to Davide. With a fast pit, it could have been a 1-2 for GEAR and the champ leadership for me. I tried to do a comeback, but it fell short, as I lost over a minute in the crash and subsequent laps, especially because I had to do another 3 laps with the damaged car, or pit twice, because the car had only 49 minutes of fuel autonomy . I did the right choice... I think. At the end I had just 2 liters of fuel. Anyway, sorry about this messy report, writing on the phone sucks.
Finotti, fun race, sorry about that spin at the end. Two races in a row I tried to hold you back . Feel like the viper under-perform compare to others.
I first thought that Pablo had clipped the gardrail on the left side that made him pirouette in front of me, but after watching the replay he went too deep with the right front on the inside curb that pulled him to the right and then he had a massive tankslapper right in front of me that took me out too. I had to wait for traffic to pass before I could rejoin. I really can't believe that with all that time lost, I still won the race. Must have been on track time and a faster pitstop and Davide being held up a few laps. Don't worry about it Pablo, just a racing incident. We were both very much on the limit for 35 minutes. Man, you had such a great start. You were off like a rocketship!
Good broadcast guys, I was surprised that I got so much air time But such things come as my performance was a lot better than in the last race. Where I was most likely the worst driver on track. After wasting a lot of time with changing the set up, I threw everything into the bin and started at zero with the default settings. Changed the wings and nothing else. In addition I spent more time practising. And that solved it for me, as passing or gaining spots is so difficult here, a good quali result was crucial. That worked out on from that on it was a lot easier. (Also I had no major mistake like a spin or jumping the start) Had some nice fights on track with Yusuf and Phil Brown (he is normally way faster than me) and later with Laurent. Until that lapped car came into my way. The commentator suggested I should do a Verstappen and search him after the race at the scales. But to be honest, I´m in many ways not like him (in particular way slower). In the end Rob could made it easier for me by giving me the ideal line. But as he wanted to enter the pits (it seemed like that) it was also possible to give him more space. I did not know that he wanted to pit so yeah, difficult. On the other hand, Yusuf and Nathan were a lot faster than me, because my second stint was not was good as my first. The hard tyre is crap, less grip and for me it had even more deg than the medium. No idea why I chose it for the second stint. John (Btw. congrats) exited the pit right in front of me and I lost a lot of time in the following 45 min. Sooner or later the would got me, so no real harm done. I also could avoid a spin from him earlier in the race, so I take what I got. Likely it won´t get better so it seems maybe time to retire from this series. No little joke, I will try to make the last race but as a birthday clashes with the next one I have to unregister. Have fun.
Didnt have the time to work on my race set nor practice much this week and it really showed this race. The pace was there but lots of little mistakes leading into big crashes with walls being so close. Setup completely wrong and really had to baby the car, especially in the bus stop. My pedals where behaving weirdly for qualy, and I did not make it back in time for the race, so had to start from pits. Damaged my car in lap 2 or 3, put the wrong tire pressures on the pitstop when I could finally repair the car, and after it was still driving like shit. Spun it a couple more times, went back to the pits to put mediums (since, it didnt matter anymore anyway) and got to watch a nice fight between Ricardo and Pablo . Not a race to remember for me.
We have an issue with the result file ..meaning the server did not create one .. we have quall but that's it , I can see that stracker has the info but its hosed as well showing DNF for all ..I have a message into rack service as this is 2 weeks in a row for this server having issues . anyone have a shot of the in game results ?
Execlent commentating guys! You really captured the thrill of the race. Joshua ... "AND HE'S NOT PITTING ...!!!" I laught my ass of as you were getting so into it!! Great stuff.
Thanks john ! all the times are in that stracker pic but positions are scrambled .. .. if we have a pic of the final grid from the replay / broadcast we can get positions .
Congratulations @John vd Geest No idea how you were able to run and last those medium tyres! Great stuff, indeed. And congratulations to @Davide Ricciardi who has performed well in his Lamborghini! I was slower than my usual pace , however that was not the only problem i have spun twice due to my own stupidity, and unnecessary aggressive driving, since i was aiming high and i was not where i wanted to be, i was not thinking straight and got ahead of myself, had hard time to apply what i practised for the race. Thanks @Nathan Lockie for the company throughout the second half of the race, i was sweating, but really enjoyed it! @Phil Brown had a very unlucky turn of events, i did not know what to feel at the moment i saw his disconnect, to celebrate an undeserved P3 or to be upset for him. For my first race ever on this track, this has been an entertaining event. Very much thanks to the broadcasting team. I appreciate your work. It is sooo much fun to watch the stream after the race with exciting commentary. And finally, i would like to thank everbody who participated. See you all next round, hopefully.
Getting a DNF when you're fighting for the lead sucks massively! I felt double sorry, because Phil was running P2 in front of Davide and I would have closed the points gap to him even more. But then again, he was fast enough to fight for the lead and win. I'm really glad that I choose this mod for another series. The fights on track are amazing. And the cars are great. I'm specially impressed with how you are getting to grips with the Viper. You are proving that that car is actually quite competitive.
I had a pretty bad race .. but it was completely my fault.. My setup wasn't working, so I planned to get home early yesterday to work on that but didn't make it in time. I ran 1/6 wings and was missing down force, which I tried to compensate when I tested during the week but hadn't quite managed it. Joined the server right before qualy. Qualified in P5 which was still ok. John had a slow start which blocked me a bit. Kept P5 at the start. At some point Phil Brown ran wide into T1 and I was able to get past. Until about 30 minutes into the race I completely missed my braking point into the chicane. Went over the grass and spun, and spun again... I gave a little bit of throttle on the grass and spun yet again and collected Ricardo Carvalho doing so.. very sorry about that ! I guess it's an unsafe rejoin, except well I didn't plan to spin again. Waited for him to get going again. My front wing was badly damaged causing my already very understeering car to understeer even more, losing lots of speed in the corners. I had bad FPS issues too. I race in VR and thought it was due to Watkins Glen.. was running 30 fps for some time and ran wide in a lot in corners due to the bad framerate. Turns out I had BLM Laps active and it was killing my framerate. Removed the app and my framerate was good again. This was after my pit stop.. second part of the race was a lot smoother. Congrats podium, I hope I can join the fight at the front again next race !
Joshua Penny is really bringing this championship alive with his great commentary. Watkins Glen commentary highlights
@John vd Geest Congratulation !!! Well done mate, well deserved victory !! I've seen you message at the end of the race, i wanted to join the commentary to celebrate with you mate, but I didn't know how... I haven't seen nobody on teamspeak so after few minutes I left maybe next time... The race was fantastic on more time, after leading all race managing tires, I lost a lot of time behind Denis which was racing me even if he was 2 second slower and he had to stop for the pits, was pointless, even because he's not running for the championship crown, but he had right to do that. Behind Phil is where I lost the win, he had a very high ping, his car was slightly bouncing all around, compromising hugely my braking point, eventually he disconnected. I didn't want to risk to lose more points, so I didn't really push to overtake him. After his connection issue, I had only one thing in my mind.... Jooohhhhnnnnn... I am after you, i'm coming to get youuu unfortunately I asked my tires a bit too much in the last 15 minutes so I didn't make it... but what a race.... So intense... So exciting... Well done all participants and broadcasters !! Top job !!
There's a room on the SRO teamspeak where the commentators are. You did a great job Davide. Before the race I believed that you would win it because you were so strong on the practise server. After hitting Pablo who spun, I lost a lot of time so I was very surprised that I was so close to you after my pitstop. Regardless who won, we made some great television, didn't we
