    Welcome to round 5 Donington

Donington Park is a motorsport circuit located near Castle Donington in Leicestershire, England. The circuit business is now owned by Jonathan Palmer's MotorSport Vision organisation, and the surrounding Donington Park Estate, still owned by the Wheatcroft family, is currently under lease by MotorSport Vision until 2038.

Originally part of the Donington Hall estate, it was created as a racing circuit during the period between the First and Second World Wars when the German Silver Arrows were battling for the European Championship. Used as a military vehicle storage depot during the Second World War, it fell into disrepair until bought by local construction entrepreneur Tom Wheatcroft. Revived under his ownership in the 1970s, it hosted a single Formula One race, but became the favoured home of the British round of the MotoGP motorcycling championship.

Leased by Donington Ventures Leisure Ltd in 2007 the hope that Formula One racing could return to the track, the incomplete venture failed to raise sufficient financial backing during the aftermath of the 2008 global financial crisis. DVLL consequently lost the rights to the British rounds of both Formula 1 and MotoGP, and in its bankruptcy returned the track to the Wheatcroft family in December 2009.

Under Wheatcroft's ownership, the venue underwent significant work, with the track restored to use in 2010, before major upgrades in the following five years. At the end of 2010, it was announced that Donington would become home to an annual historic motorsport event, the Donington Historic Festival, with new events constantly being added. Since 2010, significant investment across the venue has seen major improvements made to its infrastructure, while the circuit has become a regular fixture for top class motorcycling in the form of the Superbike World Championship.

In January 2017, the circuit business and a long term lease on the estate was purchased by MotorSport Vision, with the purchase cleared by authorities in August of the same year. Significant investment has seen facilities at the venue brought up to modern standards, with a new restaurant, toilet blocks, large new grandstand and new circuit offices, as well as other detail changes. As well as improving the infrastructure, MSV has made additions to the race calendar, with additional major events planned for 2019 including extra rounds of the British Superbike Championship and British GT.

So my internet decided to wait until the start of the race and then absolutely sh*t itself, really sorry to John for the lag and to anyone else that got caught up in that. Lost connection on about lap 6, tried to rejoin but cars were disappearing around me and I was 3 laps down so decided to DNF to avoid causing anyone else an accident. Was by far my best qualifying as well :(

Yeah, you suddenly slowed down 50 meters before the brake marker and I punted you. I thought it was lag, but I did a drive through anyway to avoid controversy. No problem, it was too hot to race for me anyway. Ask Paul, he was melting too :p.

Couldnt keep up with Michal and that forced me to a little error and out of track visit.
Then couldnt join back up as people where passing by, i blocked Paul abit, sorry, and went back to grass.
Lost tons of time and decided to take a pit and didnt find my speed limiter ( new wheel, all is **** up lol )
    so took stop and go.
After that raced bunch of guys and had fun fighting until last lap my internet got lost.
Nevertheless had fun times and battles even tho most of time went into tweaking FF settings.
funny if you got wheel for like 10years, its hard in a new one..have to learn to drive again kinda.

Had a good race. Spent it in close proximity to Chris and Caitlin but was never really racing them. The gap ebbed and flowed but I never got a good run on them to attack. I probably went a lap too long after Caitlin pitted before I did. When I came out the gap had grown. Caitlin eventually span out in front of me after the gap had closed back up due to her and Chris fighting. From there I couldn't close in on Chris but my job was done as I came into the race with the aim of protecting 2nd place in the series. Chris has closed in on me and the gap is now down from 10 to 7 but hopefully I can do the same at Snetterton. @Toni: When you went off you kicked up so much dust and brake smoke I didn't see where your car was. So you didn't block me so no worries :)

    Well done Michal :)

Yes, it was a good race, from start to finish.
Nissan played with the track from the first introductory ride, so I didn't change anything in the settings. It's probably a good universal setting for me.
Qualifying, race, fastest lap, I wrote in the statistics - it was a perfect Sunday.

Thank you all for this race let's meet in Snetterton

  14. Great race last night. I’m never big on qualifying, anywhere in the top 5 or 6 will do for me as I’ve got a setup that really works for me now. Tyres now have grip in spades, and the handling is very predictable with controlled drifts and the back rotating under braking for turn-in. at the end of both stints last night the tyres still had a minimum of 80% left, and that was the left front!

Again I was fighting with both Paul and Caitlin in the first half trying to maintain the balance between catching and passing Caitlin whilst not giving too much ground back to Paul. Made inroads into Caitlin’s lead once the tyres were up to temp and moved up into third, with Paul still pushing hard. Toni’s off down the Craner curves presented me with 2nd place before the pitstop. Given the lead I thought I’d built up I was a bit puzzled to find myself again behind Caitlin on exiting the pits after my stop......and Paul was again big in my mirrors! Had to pass Caitlin again to get the place back, but I think her tyres were giving her some problems as she seemed to be suffering understeer issues.

Like Paul, I was more concerned with consolidating 3rd in the championship so wasn’t interested in getting in to too many close fights, but loved racing with Paul and Caitlin. Looking forward to the final round, don’t think I’m likely to pinch Paul’s second place off him, he’s very consistent and even at only 7 points difference, barring any calamities, I don’t think I could finish far enough in front of him to overhaul the points gap.

Great driving again from Michal, and over the series in general..........no pressure Michal......but the title is yours to lose now! (no offence intended)

see you all again at Snett!
