Sorry @Rob Milliken, something else has come up tonight... See you at the next series and good luck all!
Thanks for putting this together. I've tested a few cars and I'm even more confused on which one to use in the next 'fixed car' series! I like them all!

    All the best,
    Jos

Firstly thanks for organising this season and all the backroom staff that make these events possible!

Secondly, congratulations to Simone, the deserved champion. Simone's team mate Gavino had some "throttle issues" at the last to allow Simone to take the lead, but none-the-less more wins than anyone else (I had none (mr consistently not quite fast enough)) and more points so seriously well done.

I thoroughly enjoyed the fight throughout the season with Simone, Tim and Roberto right to the end where I was still working out the maths in my head with 2 laps to go! For me to get 2nd in the championship is well beyond any expectations I had. Good job me. LOL.

The racing was very fair all season perhaps the best I've ever experienced (and I've been around a long time) and I really think the no contact rule on lap 1 is working great.

Not sure what next? Maybe wet only races or wet/night only races on Tuesdays? Or single make GT4 or GT3, some obscure car like the KTM, or Jaguar?

After some months I've found the GT4 pack with a discounted price and I've bought him. So this was the first chance to try it.
I love the Camaro because it have a great sound, but in order to help Simone with the setup I've chosen the Aston Martin.

I never tried the car with 10 liters of fuel but the behaviour is the same as the race fuel.
I perform my best and it is enough the take the pole position.

The race was fantastic especially in the first laps. I was on fire but Tim and its Mclaren was faster than me especially in the main straight.
After some laps, I gain some tenth of seconds lap by lap and that helps me to stay calm for the remaining laps.
In the last phase of the race I saw Tim in difficulty and when Simone overtake him I didn't have the bravery to make him lose the championship, so I decided to wait for him.
Apart from that in the last laps my rear tyres had a (too much) big drop. I don't know exactly why. I will check in the next races.

See you in the next championship!

Rule 1 of motorsport: Know who you're racing...

I forgot and thought it Simone who was 2nd entering this round - consequently I tried way too hard to hold him off (Hence my spin - the McLaren really doesn't like kurbs it turns out).
Had I actually remembered the standings I could have just held him off long enough to ensure I finished behind him but in front of Simon

Clearly we have too many Simon's/Simone's :(
Well done to them, and a big slap to whoever designed the rear suspension on the 570S

All of the GT4's have a great character (apart from the Porsche, it sounds utterly terrible for a flat 6 hence my avoiding it), so there are a few options there for single make series:
Masserati single make - they have no TC or ABS so kind of like a more hardcore version of the Porsche cup.
Ginetta single make using the British tracks and a few extras to fill the season?
The KTM is quite nice (and fast) but very twitchy, I couldn't tone it down enough to trust for Imola so it might scare off potential drivers?

Not so sure for GT3 as they aren't quite as well suited to 30 min sprints IMO, the balancing seems aimed at much longer events. I kind of like Simons suggestion of events using the less popular cars (Funnily I'll be running the Jaaaaagggg this Saturday just to give it some love).
I think we know which the slower GT3's are by now so maybe a series which only features them? That way we can cover the unpopular suggestion but still have different makes on track. Off the top of my head you'd be looking at V12 Aston, 2016 GTR, Jag? (I have no idea how fast it actually is yet), the older 911, NSX and Ferrari. Probably that odd re-worked Lambo...

Great little race last night, despite the poor turnout....shame on all the last round blow outs who didnt attend :( booo!
The splendid looking ACC version of Imola and these cars that move about a bit was a great combination. These cars really deserve a bigger grid as each has its own unique character with strengths and weaknesses. The Aston is too strong however, its the only stand-out fast car in the pack, so maybe some performance ballast could be added if its used in the future.
I took the Maserati for first time and enjoyed the challenge. As Tim mentions above, its very similar in traits to the Porsche Cup car i race in iR with no ABS or TC, has a great snarly engine sound with lovely industrial downshifts :D
I was running 7th in qually right until the last second when Bjorns Aston pipped me to the place, so lined up 8th.
On lap 1 or 2 there was some kind of coming together ahead in Sector 3 in the tight downhill left. I just managed to squeeze through the middle of it and found myself chasing a Cayman for 5th! This went on for a few laps setting new pb's until he gradually drew away from me. I had about a 5 sec gap to the chasing cars and was setting decent laptimes for most of the race. Ekins Mclaren gradually closed but he couldnt quite close the 2 sec gap i was able to maintain until about 10mins to go. Then my tyres started to go off  I got out of shape in T1 chicane and he was able to close right up, then get past a lap or so later. I seemed to suffer a few scruffy laps now as the car became a bit of a handful and with only 3 mintues remaining Vasilis BMW (that car is fast on the straights!) went by me with ease and then Bjorn also got a free pass in sector 2 :( So despite keeping a consistent solid 6th place the whole race i now lost 3 places in the last few mins on my hot knackered tyres. On the last lap, Ekins Mclaren pulled over (im guessing he was too borderline on fuel?) and i finished 8th.

That series was really good fun, well done to Rob and SRO for organising, hope we can use these GT4s in some format again. :) They seem a little more alive than 'on rails' gt3 class.
How about an international one make series, where the car manufacturer of origin matches the circuit at each round? ie Maseratis in Italy, Porsche/Merc at German tracks, Aston/Mclaren at Brit tracks etc. That way you get a series of one-make races using as many of the cars as possible but all in equal machinery at each round :)

    Great suggestions guys!
I was thinking along the same lines as Tim.
    Masserati single-make series
    or
    Ginetta single-make series
I also thought about the 2021 Porsche cup but we did that already in late 2020 & I to like these GT4's :)
Oh & what about the Alpine? :D It's a strange little car but I really like it hah ..

I really like the idea of a British tracks only Ginneta championship so we can use the British tracks. No no to the Maserati. I normally love no abs and no TC but that car just sucks. Lol.

don’t agree that the fastest car is the Aston. I tried a lot pre season and they were all very similar it was just that that the Aston is very stable. BMW is lairy as hell and the Maserati is for the brave but other than that they are all quite similar in their slightly boring hard to spin off natures.

For the Massa you need to adjust the brake force Simon and play with the ARBs to control lockups better.
It's a bit like the 90's DTM stuff in AC that you've missed over at Srou in that regard :p

I also think the Aston is just the best all-rounder. Look at lap times through the series - I destroyed Aston laptimes at Brands and would have likely won had it not been for my G25 (and the fuelling issues caused by it).
The Chevy seemed to have a major advantage at Laguna and the Merc was untouchable at Bathurst.

My qualifying time at Imola would have been within a tenth of Gavino's time had I not invalidated my best lap by bouncing the wrong way over a kurb

BMW was good too at Butharst, i believe at your hands could have won the race if you consider the fact that i was second :)

Thinking about it the Ginetta turned out to be King of Zandy  (I think the Alpine would have been V strong there also)

I vote Maserati also. With locked setup and some races in the wet.

I remain unconvinced that locked setups are fair - they'll suit the person who made them, but other drivers will have different habits and requirements and can be very negatively affected.
Matteo, Fabri and I have swapped setups in the past and simply can't drive each others cars! (I used to have the same issues in GPL, a setup made by a left foot braker is simply undrivable to someone who uses right foot + H-pattern)

Well.. This was a race that i want to forget.. or not..
Practice was good i think i managed to do low 52's most of the time at race pace and considering the fact that circuit was getting better, i believed that i had mid 51's at my pocket..
But.. It was not so easy..

Quali was awful, i did my first 2 laps at mid 52's with some mistakes, and at crucial time and when i was ready to lap at 1.51,3, for some reason i lost my brakes at the 2 last corners.. Pfff invalid lap and sixth place..

At the start of race i was very close with Roberto's Porsche and at the corner before the last one, somehow he overslowed and i tap him from behind.. He spun, Bjorn and Mark Eikins they couldnt avoid him and we had a quite messy situation with 4-5 cars spinning around.. I was wait for Roberto to go on ( i didnt gain a position) and followed him. The fault was 100% mine and i apologised Roberto at race chat and i am doing it from here again.. I will take any penalty if it needs..

After that i lost my concentration i did a lot of mistakes and found myself last.. Great.. :p
From last place i tried to be calm and started to gain time, i did some overtakes on Rob, Bjorn, Mark Johnson and Mark Eikins and finally finished sixth overall. And that was the part i loved, the fact that i could overtake thanks to massive top speed of BMW ( 253 or 254 km/h if i remember well at the end of main straight).

Well done to winner, podium finishers and to championship winner Simone Meazza and od course Rob who was setting this up and all the guys who raced at series.
I am looking forward for events like this was a great fun and i dont know maybe i will register for the GT3 event at 3 hours of Spa. :)
Until then have fun all and take care guys.

Hmm.. Yes i ran out of fuel. Guess i worked it out based on my times not the leaders times which were a bit quicker then.

The GT4s are harder to drive with the limited setup adjustements and we all drive differently so am always wary of single-make which suit some more than others.

I think the setups for the GT4's have enough range to cope for most drivers provided they stay open - The McLaren was at least 3 seconds slower for me on both of the default setups as it was so far from my preferences here.
My biggest issue was the lack of adjustable brake bias - even that could be dealt with though, I just had to adjust suspension heights and spring/shock rates until the weight was effectively moved to the wheels I wanted it at! (This might be why it turned out to be so bad on the kurbs mind).

I don't think any of the default cars suit me as stock - or at least don't suit me and also go fast at the same time...

And yet other cars feel slow and wallowy to me compared the maclaren! Feels more like a race car than a roadcar
