    I like the final old F1 points set: 9-6-4-3-2-1. Doesn't reward a DNF :D.

I still contend the Modified Moto GP points Matteo proposed seem to be a good all-around system.

20-1 w/ 1 point per position - that leaves provisions for DNF's to earn 1 point or points if there's lots of DNF's **and** it tightens things up in the front and midfield and places greater emphasis on every single finishing position.

If we ran a vintage F1 series, I'd be 100% down to run vintage F1 points. GPL 1967 pack with all 30 drivers driving the Lotus 49 when? ;)

Put it up. I'll vote for it :)

There's already one up with the 1500cc cars. And they used the Video promo for a vintage league I used to be the announcer for, that counts right? ;)

In all seriousness though, I'd be more comfortable doing a 1-make vintage F1 cup than one with lots and lots of cars - BOP'ing some of those Bazza packs is impossible so I'd rather it be something like the Kunos L49 or something. I might put that up, but my IMSA GTO Camaro didn't do too well so Idk. :(

Ah, I already voted for that one. As I understand it, that's GPL that we ran before, right?

I genuinely don't know because I wasn't here if/when you ran those cars before.

The one proposed in the voting thread was the 1500cc GPL pack from the 1962-1965 regulations which had the Ferrari Shark Nose, Lotus 25, Porsche Flat-4 thing, and a few other iconic small-engined cars.

I think the Kunos Lotus 49/Ferrari 312 are both in the 3.0L GPL Pack which also includes the Gurney Eagle, BRM P83, Brabham BT24 and Honda RA300. None of these packs are Balanced well but they sure have cool cars. A lotus 49 1-make series w/ the Kunos version would probably be your best bet for that type of car w/o having to worry about too many BOP Headaches.

I'm not sure if I'd put that up for vote though since people here like the Multi-car packs more, although I'd race the hell out of it.

Like I said somewhere else, we could do a special event with the Lotus 49 for example. But only Friday's are free.

That in the penultimate row it's not so different by mine in proposal 5. Is just "stretched" to give points to a larger number of drivers, and so it results a bit more balanced for mid pack position then my proposal 5.

However, just to be frank with you Mark, in 13 years of simracing (online) I never heard of a single person that wouldn't join a champ because he doesn't collect points if he is DNF in the final standings. I ran in Italian, French, UK, Deutsch, Swedish online simracing portals, and I've never really met anyone lamenting he should take points even if he didn't finish a race. If you retain that is a measure that keeps the number high on your server, I guess you're wrong. That wouldn't be good reasonings of a good sim or real driver. That would be reasonings for a LOSER, for a person that doesn't know the meaning of the word Sport, or of the word Competition. Pretending to score points if you didn't finish the race it's only a thing for losers, and it adds nothing to the fun of the people, and it will change nothing about the number of drivers on the server. Trust me :)

Hello everyone, I know that there is no plan for changing the DNF aspect at the moment, but it's said that we are allowed to discuss it so that I go in ! My point is that this particular aspect shouldn't be split from the scoring system itself imo.

So here is my proposal for a fully revamped system which I think wouldn't corrupt the realistic part of scoring differences neither the admins' will to reward the attendance for the series, the goals here being :

1°) To get a better reward for top positions, particularly the podium.
2°) Keep a profit for almost every position one driver might grab.
3°) Strongly encourage the attendance and to cover the full lenght of the race or at least as most as possible.
4°) One driver can't get many points with a DNF. (Not more than 4 points, 8% of winner points at most in this system)

    Here we are :

Maxime, just a heads up, you don't have that Doc set to public access so we can't view it without requesting it.

As Mark said, we're not going to change the points calculation system for the foreseeable future, so I'm not going to comment on it as if it's a possibility. That would lead to confusion about our plans. :)

I'd be up for another season with F1 1967 mod. But as I said to John a couple of weeks ago in another discussion, it wouldn't be fair to restrict the choice per car with a mechanism of first come first served. That wouldn't work especially if the fastest drivers would pick a Lotus 49 or Eagle T1G. In a champ that I'm running now on an italian portal with that mod, car choice was free, and quite obviously it has become an almost 2 makes championship between Eagles and Lotus, with a couple of brave Ferraris driver in the middle and only 1 Cooper.
However I'd be up even for a series with the mod 1500cc proposed by Jos in the other thread, as I remember that I voted for it. Just to try something different. I'm a fan of historics racing. If it was for me, I would still race with the best mod Aristotelis Vasilakos has ever made for historic racing: Power & Glory for GTR2 :D After that work he started to get paid by Kunos, and I can see the reason. ;) That GT Legends mod from Bazza, with the due respect for his work, is more an art work than an attempt to render justice to car physics of that period.

Is it really that difficult to have an opinion on this matter chaps? It's very simple maths. You are not required to be a matematician, an engineer, or an accountant.

If this thread has a merit, I would find it in the discovering of having almost same views of @Ted Hough when we talk about simracing rules. So at least I appreciate this aspect: discussion, when we keep it civil, is always a good thing. I encourage people to express an opinion, and not be only a passive reader in this respect.
If that discussion is confined between me,Ted, Mac, Jos, John and Filip it wouldn't reflect the opinion of the majority. In this case, this thread would result almost useless.

However, I repeat, as I did in the other thread, that I won't change my mind on this place if people doesn't agree on my vision of fairness. This is the more "democratic place" toward drivers in which I ever race, and I appreciate this aspect of SRO. However, this thread would have a meaning only if at least 50% of the drivers that joined last champ would express an opinion on the matter. If they don't, I have to assume that is not a sensible matter for them, so we can easily shut down this thread ;)

I honestly think people don't deserve points for a DNF: that's the major thing I'm not happy with in the current points system, honestly.

IMO the Proposed Moto-GP points w/ points down to 20th provides provision for everybody to race close and hard for every position because they all count for the same amount of points difference between them and we could implement a 25-50% Race distance = Last place points rule or something similar if need be. It's cool to have the talk even if it takes awhile for it to get changed, but I'm not too fussed either way.

Actually all that is almost exactly my suggestion above Ted. (By the way you make me think that I didn't expressly explain that some points for covering a race percentage = DNF doesn't give other points of course, so I'm going to add that right now)

Anyway, the admins are very clear that those things aren't actually envisaged.

I'm with you in everything Maxime and Ted, but we have to deal with what Nigel and Mark told us about the DNF issue.
However, I'm guessing another way that wouldn't be so difficult to improve for John I guess, once we will know what mod will receive more votes.
We could simply open a poll with 2 or more proposal for scoring point directly in a thread, and then we will use the one that will get largest number of votes.
We're not so far by that 50% of interested drivers that would apply a change to the actual scoring system in fact. So, I love democracy if people participate with his thinking, but I wouldn't care at all to people that doesn't express an opinion, cause maybe they simply doesn't have one.

If you don't express a vote, in democracy, your weight is 0.
